Canon’s midrange powerhouses have arrived

Whether you prefer shooting with a DSLR or a mirrorless camera, Canon’s two new flagship APS-C models cater to both spectrums. Both devices also support bluetooth and Wifi connectivity for easy file transfer as well as direct upload onto social media and other sites.

The launch was graced by Canon President and CEO, Mr. Kazuhiro Ozawa and Canon Head of Consumer Imaging & Imaging, Mr. Benny Yu, who each gave a short message; photographer Tristan Tamayo, who shot a live demo using the newly launched cameras; as well as Youtuber Wil Dasovich, who talked about his vlogging journey.

The EOS 90D

The EOS 90D is latest addition to the EOS DSLR line. It is equipped with a 32.5 MP APS-C sensor and enhanced with Canon’s high-speed, high-precision Dual Pixel CMOS Auto Focus technology. This tech enables a range of autofocus capabilities. With up to 4,581 AF positions, photographers have the freedom to compose the shot as they wish with features such as the Eye Detection AF which automatically follows the eye of the subjects, allowing photographers to create striking portraits even when their subject is in motion.

It also has a low-intensity limit that can go up to EV -5 for sharp focus and vivid images even in low light settings. Its silent electronic shutter also goes up to a maximum speed of 1/16,000 seconds. Users who prefer using the optical viewfinder will find it improved with fast focusing of the 45 cross-type AF sensor (of which 27 points supporting f/8, ideal for those using teleconverters) It also includes a single-point spot AF as well as intelligent tracking and recognition for face detection.

Shoot movies and video with ease and quality that can go up to 4K 30p/25p. One can shoot in cropped mode which allows more zoom and uncropped mode which covers the actual field of view for the particular lens used.

The EOS 90D retails at P74,498 for the body only, P94,498 for the 18-135 kit while the 18-55 kit retails at P81,998.

The EOS M6 Mark II

The latest addition to the EOS M series of mirrorless interchangeable-lens cameras is the compact and lightweight EOS M6 Mark II, enhanced with fast-locking and fast-tracking autofocus for capturing unexpected moments. It is equipped with a 32.5 MP APS-C CMOS sensor for capturing vibrant and detailed images and uncropped 4K shooting. Made for those wanting to get into photography or vlogging, its 3.0″ tilting LCD screen is perfect to shoot from multiple angles as well as selfies with ease.

Powered by Canon’s latest DIGIC 8 Image Processor, it delivers DSLR performance despite its compact form. Like the EOS 90D, it also features Dual Pixel CMOS Autofocus with high-precision AF tracking and Eye-detection AF.

The EOS M6 Mark II is also capable of up to 30fps continuous shooting in RAW burst mode allowing users to take multiple images in rapid-fire succession. Videographers will also love the option to shoot in uncropped 4K and shoot super slow motion scenes by shooting 120p/100p in full high definition. Plus, its 5-axis movie digital image stabilization reduces camera shakes for clearer, sharper videos.

Finally, the EOS M6 Mark II supports the use of the optional electronic viewfinder, allowing the user to check on image framing or adjust picture settings while keeping the camera close for steady shooting.

The EOS M6 Mark II retails at P53,998 for the body only, P78,998 for the 18-150 kit, and P60,998 for the 15-45 kit.
