ASUS Philippines officially introduced the ZenFone 3 Zoom, which is a follow-up to the original ZenFone Zoom launched back in 2015. ASUS offers up a sleeker package this time. Let’s take a quick look at the specs:

Like many of the devices coming out this year, it now sports a dual-camera setup at the back with two 12-megapixel laser AF sensors. One has a Sony IMX362 sensor with f/1.7 aperture, wide angle lens, 1.4 μm pixel size with SuperPixel Technology, making it good for low-light photography. There’s also the 12-megapixel Zoom Camera with 2.3x optical zoom and up to 12x zoom, which is pretty impressive for a smartphone camera. Add a 59mm focal range, ASUS boasts this can zoom on far away subjects without compromising image quality. We’ll have to test that out to say if it’s the truth.

ASUS puts in a 13-megapixel Sony IMX 214 sensor with screen flash, built-in Beautification mode, and ASUS SuperPixel technology as well so selfies in different lighting conditions will turn out great.

Another key feature of the ZenFone 3 Zoom is its substantial 5,000mAh battery, which allows you to turn the smartphone into a power bank for your other devices. It’s standby time is rated by ASUS at 42 days and 4K video recording can last for up to 6.4 hours.

Powering the ZenFone 3 Zoom is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 625 processor, Adreno 506 GPU, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB internal storage (expandable up to 2TB via microSD). It’s a dual SIM device but if you want to expand storage, it’ll make use of the second SIM slot. The Zoom is 4G LTE phone that runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow and comes with other expected pieces of tech like fast charging, fingerprint reader, and USB Type-C port. The Zoom gets a Full HD 5.5-inch display.

ASUS is offering three color options for the ZenFone 3 Zoom: Navy Black, Glacier Silver, and Rose Gold. It retails for P23,995 and goes up against some stiff competition in the likes of the recently launched OnePlus 3T and OPPO F3 Plus. According to Lenny Lin, ASUS’ product manager for smartphones, we can expect the ZenFone 3 Zoom to be available in stores by next week. To help entice buyers, ASUS offered premium bundle for those who pre-ordered. These include a JBL Portable Bluetooth Speaker, Zoom Clear Case, and ASUS ZenEar.
