Apple taps Hermès for new Watch collection

Apple is pushing the high fashion angle for its Watch wearable with its latest collaboration. The new Apple Watch Hermès collection comes in stainless steel with three different styles to choose from. Each watch in the collection comes with etching of the Hermès signature, customizable face with three exclusive dial designs inspired by Clipper, Cape Cod, and Espace Hermès watches.

The Single Tour version comes with either a 38mm or 42mm stainless steel case. The 38mm has fauve Barenia leather, noir box leather, and capucine Swift leather, while the 42mm comes in fauve Barenia and noir box leather. The Double Tour comes in 38mm stainless steel case and comes in fauve Barenia leather and bleu jean, capucine, and etain Swift leather. And the Cuff comes in 42mm stainless steel case and it’s only available in fauve Barenia.

Pricing for the Apple Watch Hermès starts at US$1,100 for the 38mm stainless steel case with the Single Tour; $1,150 for the 42mm stainless steel case with the Single Tour; $1,250 for the 38mm stainless steel case with the Double Tour; and $1,500 for the 42mm stainless steel case with the Cuff.

Aside from the high fashion Apple Watches, there also new cases and bands for the other variants. The Watch Bands can be bought separately. Here’s a rundown of the new options:

Apple Watch

  • The Watch Sport models get new gold and rose gold aluminum options. These can be paired with new fluoroelastomer Sport Bands in lavender, antique white, stone, and midnight blue.
  • The silver aluminum version of the Watch Sport also now comes in orange or blue Sport Bands.
  • The stainless steel Apple Watch collection comes with new bands including a two-toned Classic Buckle in black or saddle brown.
  • The Apple Watch space black stainless steel case is now available with black Sport Band.
  • The Apple Watch Edition also now has an 18-karat gold case with midnight blue Classic Buckle option.
  • A (PRODUCT)RED version is also available with a stainless steel case and (PRODUCT)RED Sport Band. A portion of the sales will go the Global Fund to fight AIDS.
  • Four new Sport Band color options also include fog, turquoise, vintage rose, and walnut.

Apple also announced that the latest iteration of the Watch’s operating system, watchOS 2, is coming out on September 16. It’ll bring new watch faces such as Photo Album, Time-Lapse, and Photo. It gets native third-party app support as well, which will provide Watch users with instant access to things like news headlines and upcoming flight times. The CNN app, for example, can play back video on the Apple Watch. watchOS 2 is also introducing the new Time Travel feature that lets you explore your upcoming events by scrolling the Digital Crown.
