Last August 11, 2023, the Ayala Group finalized a deal to become the official distributor of BYD passenger vehicles here in the Philippines. This deal makes a lot of sense given that the growth and development of the EV ecosystem in the country has been a priority for the Ayala Group.
They have considerable assets in various industries such as renewable power generation, automotive distribution and dealerships, property development and management, manufacturing, financing and insurance, and digital connectivity, which are all significant components in the EV Ecosystem. The group looks poised to become a notable player in the EV space.
Ayala has already taken strides in their commitment to provide Filipinos with sustainable mobility solutions. The Ayala Group’s automotive arm, AC Motors, in partnership with Solar Transport and Automotive Resources Corp., recently inaugurated the largest BYD dealership in the country in Quezon Avenue last Friday.
The Quezon Avenue dealership is the first of AC Motors’ to open through its subsidiary, Mobility Access Philippines Ventures, Inc. (MAPVI). The 4000-square-meter compound features a sizable showroom to display its wide array of EV vehicles, including the BYD Dolphin (hatchback), BYD Han (sedan) and the BYD Tang (SUV). The facility also showcases an elevated customer lounge experience and dedicated new-car release area with modern and green designs that are meant to epitomize the idea of sustainable transportation.
The new flagship dealership, along with Solar Transport’s original facility in Makati, are the first of at least 12 new BYD dealerships planned to rise in different key locations nationwide over the next 12 months. This dealership roadmap shows AC Motors’ commitment to green technology and their confidence in BYD as a whole.
