A showcase of how an automobile can power your home—The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV and Dendo Drive House technology

Mitsubishi showcases the Outlander PHEV & Dendo Drive House technology at the 10th Philippines Electric Vehicle Summit

Imagine your home experiencing a power failure. It would be nice to have a generator that could supply power to essential appliances—lights, electric fans, laptops, TVs, and of course, your modem/router as well as electrical outlets to charge your mobile phones.

But generators can be mighty noisy.

Now what if the car in your garage can be your generator, powering you home in complete silence? That’s exactly what Mitsubishi designed for when it developed its Dendo Drive House (DDH) technology. Working in tandem with a Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV (Plus-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle), DDH is designed to supply electrical power to your home via the hybrid Outlander’s batteries in the event of a power outage.

This is the cutting-edge ecosystem that Mitsubishi Motors is showcasing at the country’s biggest EV convention and exhibition – the 10th Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit happening on October 20-21 at the SMX Convention Center in Mall of Asia, Pasay City.

The Mitsubishi Outlander, which has a retail price of P2,998,000, is the world’s first plug-in hybrid EV. Since its global debut in October 2013, it has sold over 260,000 units across Europe, North America, Japan and Australia. With its all-electric operation for everyday use and mainly motor-powered hybrid operation for longer journey, the Outlander PHEV aims to promote greener energy alternative and self-sustainability for better care of our environment.

The Outlander PHEV is the result of Mitsubishi’s long-time development of electrification technology, 4WD expertise, and Super All-Wheel Control or S-AWC technology. This vehicle offers energy efficiency and a smooth driving experience by utilizing a twin-motor 4WD system and a unique PHEV architecture.

Dendo Drive House (DDH), meanwhile is a smart-home system featuring the Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) energy ecosystem. With the Outlander PHEV, a bi-directional charger, solar panels and an electric storage facility designed for home use, installing this system in your home allows you to charge your EV or PHEV vehicle by using solar-generated power, lowering your carbon footprint. Not only does this technology help you save on your electricity costs, but it also acts as a back-up power generator during power interruptions or other emergencies.

The Philippines, being one of the world’s most disaster-prone countries, can benefit from DDH technology and the Outlander PHEV’s external power-feeding function, which can directly support calamity-affected communities.
