If you’re the type to fall head over heels for something at first look, that’s bound to happen when you unbox Huawei’s new flagship smartwatch — the Huawei Watch GT 3 Pro Ceramic Edition. It embodies elegance that marries classic and modern, resulting in a stunner of a watch. Just as appealing, the smartwatch made some advances to its health and fitness functions.
Design and build
Built in a white, minimalist ceramic body design with a 43mm case size and subtle gold details found on the bezel, button, and rotating crown, you’ll notice obvious efforts were made to create a more fashionable smartwatch. With its versatility, it will garner attention from both young and mature consumers alike.
To keep your smartwatch in tip-top condition, it features a durable sapphire glass lens that is scratch and shatter-resistant. The sensor found at the center of the ceramic caseback also uses sapphire glass.
Without the strap, it weighs approximately 50g; however, since the smartwatch is paired with a ceramic strap that features a traditional butterfly buckle, it feels a bit hefty on the wrist. Worth noting is the convenience of including a screwdriver in order to adjust your bracelet as you see fit.
Display
What greets you is an impressively large 1.32-inch AMOLED HD screen display. While the default watch face (Stellar) managed to charm me with its understated design, the new dynamic flower watch face is an exquisite pick for nights you want to dress up fancy.
Performance
More than ever, health and fitness are at the forefront. It’s a good thing that Huawei took strides to provide a more comprehensive set of measuring tools. This allows us to have easy access to quantifiable and reliable measures of our health and fitness. Advancements are evident with the new ECG button and the Huawei TruSeen 5.0+; the latter increased the accuracy in both heart rate and SpO2 monitoring.
Thankfully, what seems to be often overlooked but highly necessary for women now exists in this smartwatch — menstrual cycle management.
As for fitness and sports enthusiasts, what they can look forward to are the new professional sports mode on top of the 100+ workout modes.
With its new professional Free Dive mode, Huawei has significantly improved the water-resistant capabilities of the smartwatch, supporting up to 30m deep. What enticed me the most is the new Golf Driving Range mode, and I’m quite certain other recreational and professional golfers will share the same sentiments.
And finally, receiving calls during our day-to-day is made convenient as it supports Bluetooth calls.
Battery
Equally important is the longevity of the smartwatch. The Ceramic Edition receives a 7-day battery life, which seems promising, but once you compare it to its Titanium counterpart that lasts for 14 days, this instantly diminishes its wow factor. Nonetheless, I’m satisfied with what it brings on the table since it removes the nuisance of charging on a daily basis.
Final thoughts
From its health and fitness monitoring features to its sophisticated design and long battery life, the new Huawei Watch GT 3 Pro has addressed several aspects of our wants and needs. Everything seems picture perfect. But what’s the catch? Or are there any? And finally, will its performance be at par with its luxurious aesthetics? Find out in our full review.
