Triple Threat Manila holds “MusiKARAMAY Basketball 3×3 Para sa Marawi”

The very words of Nelson Mandela summarizes “MusiKARAMAY Basketball 3×3 Para sa Marawi” an official 3×3 FIBA-endorsed event, organized by Triple Threat Manila, which happened at the Cuneta Astrodome, Pasay City last November 6, 2017 attended by over 250 people; renowned musicians and bands from the music industry like South Border, Climax, Rocksteddy, Jason Fernandez, Aikee, Davey Langit, Nyoy Volante, The Juans and Mike Swift, spectators, and event partners, to help our brothers and sisters who are internally displaced rebuild Marawi through Alagang Kapatid Foundation.

MusiKARAMAY, founded by Stanley Seludo is a community of people in the music industry which aims to create a new league of real life superheroes by using their talents as musicians in bringing difference to people’s lives. MusiKARAMAY Basketball 3×3 Para sa Marawi creates its mark by using the platform of sport to relive the spirit of modern “bayanihan”.

The tip-off was graced by Danny Seigle, professional PBA player together with the founder of MusiKARAMAY to start the event. Additionally, Kriza Cawan, founder of Triple Threat Manila, the 3×3 Basketball specialist, expounds the benefit of having this event FIBA-endorsed would mean raising the Philippine Ranking on 3×3 World Map. It was followed by the welcome remarks of Paulo Legaspi, President and CEO of Healthwell Nutraceuticals Inc., one of the major partners to bring this event into fruition. He starts with admiring the cause, most especially believing on the people behind the event.  Menchie Silvestre also spoke about the partnership of MusiKARAMAY and Alagang Kapatid Foundation leading the crowd to unanimous solidarity chant of “Bangon Marawi”.

The teams who became part of this momentous event were:

Pool A: Escalera, Globe Musikaramay, MOF, and Radyo5,

Pool B: AOC/Philips, Cross, Globe Merchandising, and HSM

Pool C: Kosa, Mucho, SB and Three Deep

Pool D: Byaheng Langit, Globe Climax, Puwetmalu, and Suplados

Pool E: Kaloob, Nyoy Volante, Thunders, and Warner Brothers

Pool F: Ding Santos, Rocksteddy, Studio Z, and The Juans

Pool G: Office of Sen. Angara, PhilHealth, Royal MNL Athletics, and Royal MNL Fitness

The side events of the tournament brought the house down as Globe 3-point shoot-out and the Kambi Slam Dunk Contest powered by Wilson started.  The lowered-rim slam dunk edition being the highlight of the tournament was made more exciting being judged by icons in the basketball industry like Coach Pido Jarencio, former PBA professional player, Coach Richard del Rosario, assistant coach of Ginebra Kings, Mac Baracael and Bradwyn Guinto, professional players in the PBA.

Jergen Millena bagged the Globe 3-point shoot-out title, meanwhile Roy Cayanan reigned as the Champion of Kambi Slam Dunk Contest.

During the Quarter Finals, Byaheng Langit and Warner battle to advance to compete Globe Musikaramay, meanwhile in SB and The Juans battle to advance against the winning team between Cross and Royal MNL Fitness. During the Semi-Final Round, Globe Musikaramay won over Warner Brothers allowing them to advance to Championship Match against Royal MNL Fitness who won against SB during Semi-Final Round.

Royal MNL Fitness dominated the 1st Musikaramay Basketball 3×3 Para sa Marawi Champion Title winning against 2nd Place Globe Musikaramay with the 3-point difference. On another side of the tournament, SB defeats Warner Brothers during the battle for 3rd place.

Stanley Seludo was awarded as Musician’s MVP garnering 24 points, 9 rebounds, and 1 assist. And the Tournament MVP title was brought home by Roy Cayanan finishing with astonishing 45 points, 15 rebounds and 1 assist.

One of the musician players, Matt Villanueva said “What I like most is that we helped our brothers and sisters in Marawi at the same time we did enjoy the camaraderie [among participants]”.

MusiKARAMAY aims to launch MusiKARAMAY Basketball 3×3 Para sa Marawi, Season 2 few months from now.  “It will be a long rebuilding process for Marawi City, so we intend to raise more funds for them from here on and in the coming years”, Stanley Seludo said.
