Disney Interactive continues to expand its immensely popular hybrid toy/game with the launch of Disney Infinity 3.0 which introduces another round of amazing characters from Disney’s ever growing list of memorable heroes and villains. In this third installment of the best-selling video game franchise, Disney introduces many of our favorite characters from the epic Star Wars universe as well as other characters from other Disney franchises including those from Pixar’s Inside Out and Marvel’s Age of Ultron.
“Disney Infinity is the only game where fans can play with Disney, Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars characters together in one experience,” said James Pitaro, president of Disney Interactive. “We worked closely with Lucasfilm to deliver an authentic Star Wars game experience, featuring some of the most iconic stories and characters from the past, present, and future.”
Disney Infinity 3.0 introduces a whole array of new toys and content including three new Star Wars Play Sets set in the three major timelines of the Star Wars saga specifically the Twilight of the Republic Play Set which is set in the timeline of Star Wars Episodes I to Episode III, the Rise Against the Empire Play Set based on Episodes IV to Episode VI, and the third Play Set based on the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens movie.
Disney is also releasing a new Play Set based on the Disney-Pixar movie Inside Out; a new Marvel Play Set featuring Hulkbuster Iron Man, Ultron, and other Marvel characters; and a host of new figures of characters from across Disney’s franchises including Mickey and Minnie, Sam Flynn and Quorra from Tron: Legacy, Mulan and Olaf, and more.
“Star Wars is a cross-generational franchise, and Disney Infinity 3.0 creates an incredible opportunity for families and fans to relive their favorite Star Wars moments,” said John Blackburn, senior vice president and general manager of Disney Infinity. “With the addition of Star Wars, Inside Out, and new Disney and Marvel characters, Disney Infinity 3.0 will be the most ambitious and diverse offering yet and also the most accessible.”
Aside from the new Play Sets, figures, and power discs, Disney Infinity 3.0 is also introducing a brand new Toy Box Hub which players can build and customize with the help of Townspeople Sidekicks and access different activities from platform, racing, and farming simulation games. At launch, players can access two new adventure games that players can both play and customize. These two games are Toy Box Speedway where players can race with characters and vehicles from their favorite Disney franchise and Toy Box Takeover where players need to enlist the help of Disney, Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars characters to save their Toy Box from invading villains.
The new Toy Box also introduces features such as Flynn’s Arcade where players can play with other Disney Infinity 3.0 players online and El Capitan which allows players to view Toy Box TV episodes as well as check out the Toy Boxes of other players as well as new tools and toys for Disney Infinity 3.0 users to play with such as the Path Creator, Toy Dispenser, Music Note Creator, Main Street USA Storefronts and Buildings, Elsa’s Ice Palace, Frozen’s Marshmallow, Radio Disney Player, and new vehicles such as the Mad Hatter’s Teacup, Slash Mountain log, the TRON Light Cycle, and more.
