Sci-fi television series are few and far between. Those that do exist are considered gems of their age, like Star Trek, Firefly, Doctor Who, and Orphan Black. To make a true sci-fi show, you’d need excellent world building, a talented cast, and a penchant for answering heavy philosophical questions.
CBS looks to add to that prestigious list with the Season 2 premiere of Extant, starring Halle Berry as Molly Woods and Jeffrey Dean Morgan as JD Richter.
Extant is executive produced by Steven Spielberg (who also produces another CBS hit, Under the Dome). Extant is set in a technologically enhanced future which features both androids and aliens. It stars Halle Berry as astronaut Molly Woods who discovers that she has unwittingly put the human race on a path to destruction.
In this season, the threat that Molly thought was contained in space is now earthbound and spreading to become a major problem here on Earth. Jeffrey Dean Morgan of Supernatural fame joins the cast as investigator JD Richter, who teams up with Molly to protect humanity.
Extant Season 2 will premiere tonight July 14, Tuesday at 9:55pm. It will air the first two episodes back to back only on RTL CBS Entertainment. The channel is available on Sky Cable Ch. 53 (SD) & Ch. 196 (HD), Destiny Cable Ch. 53, Cable Link Ch. 37 (SD) & Ch. 313 (HD) and Dream Satellite Ch. 17.
