A legendary off-road icon is finally making its way to Philippine shores. 212 Motor Philippines has officially announced its grand debut at the upcoming Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) from April 9 to 12, 2026, bringing with it the highly anticipated 212 T01.
Rooted in the historic 1965 BAW BJ212—China’s first mass-produced 4×4 military utility vehicle—the 212 brand operates today as an independent, premium lifestyle marquee. Guided by the philosophy of “Accessible Heritage,” 212 Motor Philippines is ready to shake up the local automotive landscape by offering a true body-on-frame SUV that refuses to compromise between hardcore off-road capability and modern, first-class comfort.

“The Philippine market is ready for a vehicle that doesn’t just look tough, but is engineered to actually conquer the elements,” says 212 Motor Philippines management. “Whether you are a pragmatic urban commuter navigating deep city floods, an SME owner needing relentless diesel reliability, or an enthusiast tackling technical weekend trails, the 212 T01 is an urban fortress built for you.”
Uncompromising Mechanical Capability
The 212 T01 is not a soft-roader. It retains its iconic, classic boxy silhouette and utilitarian charm, but beneath the heritage design lies serious mechanical hardware. It is built on an authentic, heavy-duty body-on-frame (ladder frame) chassis paired with a 5-link solid axle suspension system for maximum wheel articulation over uneven terrain.

Off-road enthusiasts will appreciate the traditional part-time 4WD system, complete with front and rear differential locks and dedicated off-road driving modes to ensure traction in the most unforgiving conditions. Furthermore, the T01 boasts an impressive 235 mm minimum ground clearance and a massive 850 mm water-wading depth—making it uniquely equipped to handle Metro Manila’s unpredictable floods and the Philippines’ harshest provincial routes.

Under the hood, the T01 is powered by a relentless AUCAN 2.0L Turbo-Diesel engine, delivering 125 kW of power and a heavy-hitting 415 N·m of peak torque. This power is managed smoothly by a premium 8-speed ZF Automatic Transmission, ensuring reliable crawling capability on the trail and effortless cruising on the highway.
A First-Class Smart Cabin

The rugged, mechanical exterior of the T01 hides a completely modern, highly refined interior. At MIAS, attendees will be able to experience the smart cockpit firsthand, featuring a 10.25-inch full LCD instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch central control display. For tackling tight trails or tricky city parking, the system is equipped with 360-degree panoramic vision and a transparent chassis perspective view. To completely eliminate driving fatigue, the cabin features premium seating fully equipped with built-in heating and ventilation.
The 212 T01 will officially unmask on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at the World Trade Center Metro Manila.
Stay tuned, and prepare to Embrace Adventure.
