Yamaha goes full throttle with the Grand Fans Day for its Mio scooters, featuring entertainment luminaries James Reid and Nadine Lustre.
The “Ride Your Story” event was slated to begin by 5 p.m., but fans of both the trendy motorcycle and the hit love team already flocked to Market! Market! Activity Center to secure near posts. Kat, the PR lady, told me, “Parang pagbukas palang yata ng mall nandito na sila.” [“It seems that they (the fans) were here as soon as the mall opened.”]
Hosted by VJs Chino and Ai, the Grand Fans Day featured spoken word poet Mai Mai Cantillano, known for her heart-wrenching Sa Pagitan Ka Natagpuan, and balladeer TJ Monterde who set girls’ hearts on fire.
Of course, the most awaited was the reel-to-real couple JaDine—an endearing mashup of their names—who drew erupting cheers from the audience as soon as they went out into the stage for a duet. After the performance, the hosts engaged them in a question-and-answer session that left many screaming their hearts out. Nadine also shared her first-time riding experience with Yamaha Mio, while James gave the audience tips on how to be a part of the YClub. This means that the star of the show still were Yamaha’s four iterations of Mio: the Sporty, I 125, the 125 MX i, and the Soul i 125.
The Grand Fans Day is Yamaha’s “thanksgiving” initiative as Mio continues to see strong growth in sales.
