Yamaha Motor Philippines, Inc. is all set to welcome the 2015 MotoGP Champion Jorge Lorenzo. The most successful Spanish rider in recent memory is coming off a victory that secured Yamaha’s Triple Crown with awards as best manufacturer and best team.
He made his racing debut on his 15th birthday at the 125cc Spanish Grand Prix in 2002. He went on to become the greatest Spanish rider in the intermediate class with a dominating 17 wins and 2 championships from 2005 to 2007. His success led to his signing to Yamaha for the MotoGP in 2008, partnering him with the legendary Valentino Rossi. His gifts were now on full display and the world discovered that there were only great things to come from the then young Spanish rider. He became the youngest rider in MotoGP history to finish on the podium in his first three races, a record held by Dani Pedrosa.
After having finished 4th and 3rd place in 2008 and 2009 respectively, he stamped his class by winning his first MotoGP Championship in 2010. He claimed his second championship in 2012 and his latest in 2015. He now holds 5 World Championships, 3 coming from the MotoGP
Upon arriving, he opened the Yamaha Grand Prix 7 while dazzling the Filipino crowd with his skills on the Carmona Racing Circuit. Then he went off to the Greenfield district for the grand opening of Yamaha’s flagship shop, the Yzone, which has moved from its old location and is now bigger and definitely better. As the doors open, it gives access to top-of-the-line products and a quality of service that will go beyond its predecessor. Highlighting the launch will be the unveiling of the Big Bike Category with Jorge Lorenzo. This also includes Yamaha’s newest Yamalube ST Supreme, which Jorge Lorenzo himself unveiled.
Meanwhile, Yamaha Motors Philippines Inc. President Toru Osugi assured the audience that the year will be filled with much more surprises including the opening of smaller but just-as-impressive Yamaha branches all over the country.
A fitting climax to the day was the Triple Crown Celebration in the Greenfield Park. It was festive from the beginning with performances from the MYXX Dancers, DJ McCoy, and Bamboo. Fans of Jorge Lorenzo got to meet him for Yamaha’s Best Fan contests and the customized motorcycle contest.
Yamaha ended 2015 with a bang and it start 2016 on a high note worthy of its Championship Caliber, a demeanor built by dedication and excellence that is powered by passion.
