Yahoo’s calling the new Yahoo Mail feature the caller ID for your inbox. The tech company added a new contact card feature that shows up every time you hover over a person’s name in an email or when you’re composing a message yourself.
Contact cards show information like photo, phone number, job title, and links to profiles on Facebook and Flickr (but subject to your contact’s privacy settings). Powered by Xobni technology, these contact cards are designed to show you up-to-date phone numbers that your contact may have emailed you in the past so you don’t have to rifle through old messages to find it.
The cards are actionable, too, which means you can quickly search for email from them or send them one; add them to your address book; or edit their contact information.
