Looking to set the standards for smartphone photography, Xiaomi recently unveiled two smartphones, the Redmi Note 5 and Mi MIX 2S, to the local market. Both devices boast artificial intelligence features: AI Portrait Mode for background blurring or bokeh effect and AI Beautify 4.0 for enhancements with a natural appearance.
The Redmi Note 5 is dubbed as the “Camera Beast” and lives up to the title very much so. Aside from a dual camera setup, the Redmi Note 5 also has a main 12-megapixel sensor that features large 1.4µm pixels, which captures more light during low-light conditions and promises better results. Its Dual Pixel technology (usually found in DSLRs) enables it to deliver incredible autofocus speeds. Aside from these, the front camera has a 13-megapixel sensor complemented by an LED selfie light.
The Redmi Note 5 is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 636 platform, and with its Kryo 260 architecture, 1.8GHz maximum clock speed, the Adreno 509 GPU, LPDDR4X DRAM, you can run more apps simultaneously and smoothly switch between programs and games. It has a 5.99-inch FHD+ 18:9 full screen, large 4,000mAh battery, support for fast charging, and the latest MIUI 9 operating system based on Android Oreo. The Redmi Note 5 comes in 4GB RAM with 64GB internal storage with microSD expansion. On top of these, you get a TPU case in the box. The Redmi Note 5 retails for P11,990.
The Redmi Note 5 is now available at Authorized Mi stores at Trinoma and SM Megamall, and Lazada.
Meanwhile, the Mi MIX 2S is the latest addition to the globally-acclaimed Mi MIX Series. Xiaomi dubs this phone as a culmination of art and technology, and it indeed is. For starters, it has an eye-catching ceramic back that features a four-sided curved design, which transitions smoothly into the aluminum frame that holds a 5.99-inch FHD+ full screen display.
For its dual camera setup, it employs the latest Sony IMX363 flagship 12-megapixel sensor with 1.4µm and 1.0µm pixels for high-quality photos even in low light, and Dual Pixel technology for high-speed auto-focusing. It is available in 6GB RAM + 64GB internal storage and 6GB RAM + 128GB storage for P27,990 and P29,990, respectively.
Like the Redmi Note 5, the Mi MIX 2S also comes with a phone case with every purchase. It will be available in the local market this month.
