Nine all-female flight teams were honored ahead of International Women’s Day
In the spirit of this year’s International Women’s Day celebration, flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) accomplished an aviation milestone by having the most number of all-female flight crews in a single day, marking a collective triumph for women in the industry.
Nine sets of female pilots and cabin crew recently took flight to different local and international PAL destinations.
Two flights were bound for California, with one going to San Francisco and the other to Los Angeles, along with flights to Sydney, Hanoi, and Jakarta. Meanwhile, the all-female deck crew on domestic flights headed to Cebu, Tagbilaran, Davao, and Iloilo.
Apart from this historic and inspirational effort that broke glass ceilings, PAL also celebrates for the first time having female pilots from all flight divisions and across all ranks.
Women empowerment came into focus as the all-female crew were honored and celebrated, showcasing that PAL empowers women in the aviation industry.
Throughout its 83 years, PAL has evolved into a leader in cultivating a progressive, women-inclusive company culture that allows everyone to thrive.
PAL has achieved a significant milestone in 1993 when Captain Aimee Carandang became its first female pilot and southeast Asia’s first commercial pilot, marking a historic moment in Asian aviation.
Captain Carandang’s ascent to this position not only symbolizes PAL’s dedication to diversity and inclusivity, but also serves as a testament to the airline’s unwavering support for women.
