In just a few days, a triple threat of annual technology-centric events will make the headlines. Google, Apple, and other brands will grab the limelight for the next couple of weeks. In just a day’s time, Google I/O will start. After that, we’ll be treated to the Computex in Taiwan and Apple’s WWDC. Expect a flurry of new gadgets and up-and-coming technology.
If it’s one thing we love while waiting for an event, it’s rumors. Rumored devices and new technologies pop up days before an event. For the upcoming Google I/O, we’ve got a couple we’re excited to see in the event.
Android M. It’s turned into a yearly tradition. What’s the name for Android’s next version? Last year’s speculations were Lemon Meringue Pie and Licorice. This year, is it Muffin, Marshmallow, M&M? The internal name is Macadamia Nut Cookie. On a more serious note, the new OS will focus more on RAM usage and battery efficiency. Expect an appearance from this M-named sweet.
Google Photos. Google’s been working on its internal gallery app. Lollipop already features a Photos app, but an update will improve the service. We’re hoping from built-in editing tools to cut out the torrential downpour of third-party photo apps.
Project Ara. The world’s first modular smartphone has been in development since last year. It’s been a while since we last heard from this pioneering technology. But Google’s Advanced Technology and Projects group, Ara’s developers, are promising a treat this I/O.
Google Glass 2. We haven’t heard a lot about Google Glass since it slowly faded into obscurity and the public’s disdain for the ‘glassholes.’ Rumor has it that Google may be developing a friendlier sequel to the ignored eye-wearable.
Internet of Things. Tech giants are heralding the coming of a much more connected lifestyle. It’s only a matter of time before the Internet of Things gets off the ground. We’re anxiously awaiting for which giant capitalizes on the Internet of Things prophecy first.
Google I/O is just one of the three big events coming up. Expect a whole load of new gadgets and technologies to grace our pages in the upcoming weeks. We’re as excited as you are.
