We are officially blown away by the new Redmi Note 8 and Note 8 Pro

Xiaomi has officially launched the Redmi Note 8 and 8 Pro in the Philippines. And let me tell you, jaws were dropping. And no—this is not me exaggerating.

Xiaomi has packed in flagship-grade specs like the 48MP quad set-up on the Redmi Note 8 and the 64MP quad set-up on the Note 8 Pro, for starters.

Does it remind you of a certain brand?

Let’s break down the Note 8’s cameras first. It features an ultra-wide angle lens, depth sensor, and macro lens. Inside is where it gets interesting. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 and complemented with a 4,000mAh battery that supports 18W fast charge. It also comes with all the other good things: a 6.3″ LCD Dot Drop display, rounded display corners, Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on the front and rear, USB type-C, and (yes, I always include this one) a 3.5 mm headphone jack. And no bias, the Redmi 8 looks and feels premium. Coming in with 3 color variants: Space Black, Neptune Blue, and Moonlight White and 3 memory options. The 4GB/64GB will retail at P8,990, the 3GB/32GB at P7,990, and 4GB/128GB at P9,990.

Next up is my personal favorite—the Note 8 Pro. First in the Philippines, Capture ultra high resolution images with the 64 MP quad-camera. And we’re talking about 3.26 meters of an actual print out, kind of high resolution. Inside is the powerful octa-core Mediatek Helio G90T with liquid cool technology. And keeping true to the Redmi line, the Note 8 Pro adds a 4,500mAh battery with 18W USB type-c fast charging. With a 6.53″ FHD+ display and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on both sides, the Redmi Note 8 Pro (and Note 8 as well) incorporates the rear fingerprint display very well. I’d half-search for an in-screen scanner if I didn’t know any better. The Redmi Note 8 Pro will come in Forest Green (not available in Lazada), Mineral Gray, and Pearl White in 6GB/64GB and 6GB/128GB for P11,490 and P12,990, respectively.

As I’ve said, craaaazy. I haven’t gotten to really try them out but I have good word that they’re both as good as they sound. Both will be available on Mi Authorized Stores and Lazada tomorrow, October 12, 2019.
