The Volvo XC40 is a progressive compact SUV that makes a strong statement. It combines agile performance and fuel economy, powered by intelligent all-wheel drive and an efficient engine. The optional exterior styling kit includes front and rear skid plates along with special door mountings to optimize the SUV attitude of the XC40.
The XC40’s modern Swedish interior options include Warm Lava carpeting and Oxide Red upholstery. The textile floor mats are made from 100% recycled materials, reflecting Volvo’s environment-friendly orientation and underlining its commitment to sustainability. The XC40 is also designed to allow natural light in through its optional panoramic sunroof. LED interior lights enhance the mood and the sculpted dashboard and décor panels at night.
The compact yet spacious XC40 provides comfortable seating for up to five, with plenty of storage cabin features such as a bin underneath the front-center armrest, which can hold a smaller handbag or tissue box. Also up front on the tunnel console is storage for a mobile phone where it can be wirelessly charged. Front door pockets provide even more storage and are large enough to fit a standard-sized laptop or up to three one-liter drink bottles. Under the glove compartment is an ingenious hook to hang bags on, which can prevent shopping or food bags from sliding around. The interior volume of 460 liters, combined with a practical folding floor, provide an extensive way to manage whatever you load into the car.
The Volvo XC40’s technological features include using your phone as your key. Using the Volvo On Call app, this allows you to pre-heat or pre-cool your XC40, lock or unlock remotely, and find your car in a crowded lot. You can even sync your calendar with the On Call app to give you an extra reminder for your appointments, where they are or how to get to them. The Volvo XC40 provides Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support. This mobile support allows the driver to use the phone’s functions via the car’s touchscreen, steering wheel controls and voice control. Through these controls the driver can make calls, listen to music, use navigation apps, or even write text messages.
Driving features of the Volvo XC40 include the Park Assist Pilot, which utilizes a 360° camera to let you know if a potential parking space is big enough and will automatically steer the car into place if so. Pilot Assist helps the XC40 maintain a steady speed and distance to a car ahead of you, while also providing steer support to help maintain the car within its lane. The Cross Traffic Alert radar technology allows the driver to see around corners, especially helpful when reversing out of a parking space. Run-Off Road Mitigation keeps you safe by detecting if you are about to veer off the road and uses automatic steering and braking to keep you on the road. City Safety comes standard with the XC40 and provides an extra pair of eyes by braking automatically to help avoid or minimize a collision with other vehicles, cyclists, large animals or pedestrians.
