Vivo’s latest APEX concept gets rid of more than just bezels. Similar to the Meizu Zero, the Chinese company is teasing its take on the “hole-less” smartphone—and it’s a definite looker. It has a “Super Unibody” curved-glass back, notch-less screen, and no openings or cutouts in sight. The screen will vibrate to produce sound. And in lieu of volume rocker and power button, there are capacitive sensors along the frame to detect touch.
Instead of just a dedicated portion for the in-display fingerprint reader, Vivo has managed to make the entire screen serve as a fingerprint reader. Without any ports or SIM card slots, this phone will support an eSIM and wireless charging/file transfer. It also comes equipped with a dual 13- and 12-megapixel setup on the back, Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor, up to 12GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, and 5G connectivity support. We’re expecting to hear more from Vivo about this concept at next month’s Mobile World Congress.
