Sony has unveiled the PS5 and this time, in two flavors. One comes with the Blu-ray disc drive while the much slimmer one is called the ‘digital’ version for those that take full advantage of PlayStation Store.

The internals of the two flavors are the same, save for the optical drive. Sony has not yet released much details about the custom 825GB SSD inside the console, but they’re promising it’s so fast that if your character turns around, everything behind will load in a split second. Jim Ryan, President and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, is very confident about the PS5’s improvements from the previous generation, putting emphasis again on the speed of its SSD. 

“Worlds will be richer and more beautiful, they’ll captivate your senses in ways you didn’t think possible, and you’ll be able to experience them much more seamlessly, with lightning fast loading.”

Unlike its Xbox nemesis though, the PS5 can only support most of the titles from the PS4 and nothing beyond that. However, there’s nothing to fret as they have also released a bunch of upcoming titles that are already in production for the PS5:

Sony also unveiled a slew of accessories for the PS5 to enhance your gaming experience. All of them are in theme with the console for that perfect aesthetic while also being advanced for our time:

  • PULSE 3D wireless headset – offering 3D audio support and dual noise-cancelling microphones
  • HD Camera – featuring dual 1080p lenses for gamers to broadcast themselves
  • Media Remote – a remote control with built-in microphone to navigate movies and streaming services with ease
  • DualSense Charging Station – for convenient charging of two DualSense Wireless Controllers

Sony said pricing and availability would be announced at a later date.
