realme has recently introduced into their smartwatch lineup their latest iteration: the realme Watch 3. Dubbed as every Filipino’s ultimate health and fitness companion, the revamped, refurbished device boasts an even larger display, a finer design, Bluetooth calling and numerous health & fitness modes, just to name a few.
realme’s previous models already possessed more than respectable traits and capabilities. So, its later, upgraded version is already paired with better impressions and, hence, high expectations.
Fortunately for me, I was given the opportunity to review the Watch 3 and truly indulge myself in its abilities and capacities.
Display:
My first impressions of its screen was that it had a very vast display; especially coming from an already large screen from its predecessors, the Watch 3’s is still quite impressive.
Sporting a 1.8-inch Super Large and Bright Display with vivid colors, the smartwatch’s large screen size facilitates easier and smoother navigation within the device, as well as clearer and bigger displays and animations. However, despite the upsized watchface, the Watch 3 still has quite visible bezels on all sides.
Design:
In terms of appearance, my initial thought was that it gave more of a premium look as compared to its previous models. Coming in 2 colors of either Black or Gray, its Reflective Metallic Frame watch face and sleek, silicone-wrapped strap give quite the modern, dynamic and sporty look.
Despite possessing a large display, the device is more than capable of being an everyday companion as it isn’t heavy on the wrist or uncomfortable to wear whatsoever. Whether going for a coffee run, walking the dogs, working out or hanging out with friends and other day-to-day activities, the Watch 3 has both the looks and the functionality to support.
I was able to most appreciate its characteristic of being light weight when playing sports such as basketball and golf. Despite its size, the Watch 3 is comfortable to wear even when playing these sports that involve a lot of wrist movement, ultimately allowing you to continue playing unbothered while its multiple sports features are at work.
realme has also made the Watch 3 IP68 water resistant for added protection and durability. This means your smartwatch should be just fine when it gets a little wet from washing your hands or when it starts drizzling on the fairway. However, the Watch 3 isn’t waterproof, so it wouldn’t be wise to go for a swim or a bath while still wearing the smartwatch.
Features:
realme has littered its Watch 3 with a plethora of features. To make the smartwatch more unique and personalized, choose from over 100 dynamic and static built in watch faces, with a whole lot more layouts and designs to choose from, all in the realme Link app. Here, you can personalize your watch face even further with a picture of your own (Go Blazers!) and manage the smartphone-smartwatch relationship, such as workout history, reminders, notifications and apps, just to name a few.
With realme targeting its Watch 3 to be an everyday health and fitness companion, it’s only apt that the device supports such a wide variety of functions. From more than 100 Sports Modes, All-Day Comprehensive Health Monitoring, 24/7 Heart Rate Monitor, Stress Monitor, Sleep Detection, Reminder to Drink Water and a Women’s Special in monitoring menstrual cycle, to say that realme has absolutely packed the Watch 3 with health features would be an understatement.
As someone who participates in different types of physical activities, having a smartwatch that is just as versatile is of a great benefit. When playing basketball or at the gym, I can track how many calories I’ve burned and monitor my heart rate, while when playing golf or taking my dogs out for a stroll, I can track how many total steps I’ve taken and monitor the weather situation. Clearly, the Watch 3 has supporting features for your day-to-day life.
Another aspect of the smartwatch that realme highlighted is its seamless bluetooth connectivity for calls, as it now comes with a built in microphone and speaker. Although I only found myself utilizing this function during the rare times it would be most convenient answering calls from the watch and not the phone, its volume, clarity and connectivity did not disappoint.
Battery:
Equipped with a 340mAh battery that equivalates to a 7-day standby time, I was quite impressed with that of the Watch 3; not only was it able to withstand constant and heavy usage without its power overly depleting, but its recharge was also relatively quick, ultimately allowing you to play more and worry less.
Verdict:
The Watch 3 completely embodies the “fitness meets finesse” vision of realme, as its multitude of functionalities, paired with its stylish design, truly allows it to be an everyday companion of both health and fitness. Possessing more than just the typical and base functions you’d expect from a smartwatch and, yet, priced at only P3,499 (P2,299 only for early bird rate), the realme Watch 3 has excellent value and practicality.
