Alongside the debut of their new processor and 7th-gen iPad Pro, Apple has pulled the curtains on the new iPad Air. Surprisingly, there’s 2 of them as it now comes in 11 and 13-inch models just like the Pro model.
Ironically, these new models aren’t ‘Airs’ anymore. They are thicker than the iPad Pro, though .9mm thinner than the standard iPad. This size difference also translates to weight where the ‘Air’ moniker came from. The 11-inch Air weighs 462g, the 11-inch iPad Pro at 444g, while the 10.9-inch standard iPad is at 477g.
The new iPad Airs are powered by the M2 chip that was previously used in the past iPad Pro. It’s 50 percent faster than the M1 iPad Air, while being 3x faster than the A14 iPad Air. It’s performance across different segments like productivity, gaming, and general use all saw improvements from the M2 processor. It even has a 16-core Neural engine for better AI utilization for those who delve in that area.
Hardware has also been updated this time. The selfie camera is now positioned on the right side of the bezel, making it ideal for landscape video calling with the Smart Folio on. It also now supports Wi-Fi 6e and can work with the new Apple Pencil Pro.
The new iPad Air is available in metallic colors of Blue, Purple, Starlight, and Space Grey. It starts at PHP 42,990 for the 11-inch model, and PHP 54,990 for the 13-inch model. The standard iPad also has an updated starting price of PHP 24,990.
