If you want to see how far car brands can go with their cars, SEMA is the show to see. The Specialty Equipment Market Association puts aftermarket brands and tuners front and center, making stock cars a pretty rare sight on the floor.
But with the situation in the country and considering not everyone can go to Las Vegas, USA to see the show live, we took it upon ourselves to share with you some cars that will certainly catch your attention.
Chevrolet Beast Concept
Chevrolet had a number of black beauties on display but what really stood out is their new Beast Concept. It’s based off the Chevy Silverado but this one is all roided up for high-speed off-road pursuit. It has an open cabin outlined by thick tubing, small metal doors, and boasts a 6.8-liter supercharged V8 under the hood with 650 horsepower, 20-inch wheels with 37-inch tires, a trick suspension that has 12-inches of travel in front and 15.5 at the back, and two full-size spares on the truck bed.
Ford Shelby Mustang Mach-E GT Concept
Many were up in arms when Ford used the Mustang nameplate for their first full-electric crossover and just added Mach-E at the end. Well, it seems they’re willing to make amends as they unveiled the GT Concept. The grille has returned, together with a new front fascia that features sharper lines, fender flares, and a custom hood. There are also decals on the car, with the “Shelby” graphic above the rear wheels.
Honda Performance Department Civic Si Race Car Prototype
That title is a mouthful, but so is the car even in its concept form. The Si is the performance-oriented variant of the new Civic and Honda Performance Department is gearing up towards a real race car counterpart very soon. So far, the prototype they’ve shown has Eibach springs and Bilstein dampers for an adjustable suspension setup with six-piston brakes. No word yet on how much they’ll modify the powertrain.
Nissan Project Overland Frontier
Joining the overlanding train is Nissan with their Project Overland Frontier concept. Based of the Nissan Frontier, it has Off Road Performance Suspension Kit, SPC Front Upper Control Arms, Nismo Off Road Performance shock absorbers with reservoirs at the rear, custom Nismo Off Road rear leaf springs, and Nismo Off Road AXIS Wheels with 285/70-17 Maxxus RAZR MT tires. Basically it can take you anywhere you’d want where there is soil.
Sung Kang’s Nissan ‘DocZ’ build
Nissan also showcased Sung Kang’s (the one who always eats in Tokyo Drift) DocZ build of a 240Z. His build is inspired by the 1971 East African Safari winner and will feature a tuned L24 with custom head, triple Weber carbs, and custom exhaust. It will also have a 16-inch “78 Nanakorobi Yaoki” wheels to keep up with the vintage theme of the build.
Toyota Chinook-inspired “Tacozilla”
Toyota is also jumping on the overlanding trail but with a different twist – by going retro. They’ve gone and modernized the Chinook campers from the early 80s and put it in today’s Tacoma pickup truck.
The result is a retro-themed camper that doesn’t look rugged but has all amenities covered for days out on the wild. Riding on a Tacoma TRD platform, the Tacozilla has a full bathroom with shower and hot water, and a full kitchen. Who needs a bonfire, right?
