Taylor Swift gets back together with Spotify (and other music streaming services)

Do you remember the time Taylor Swift pulled her entire catalog from big music streaming services and Spotify even made a playlist asking her to come back? Well, Swift’s fans are in for a treat. The superstar has brought back her catalog to music streaming services like Spotify, Google Play Music, and Amazon Music. If you’re on Apple Music or Tidal, this announcement won’t really affect you as she’s stayed on those services for the past three years.

Swift’s management made the announcement on Twitter saying this reversal is in celebration of the sale of over 10 million copies worldwide of her latest album, 1989. She pulled her entire catalog back in 2014 saying she felt like artists weren’t compensated fairly on services like Spotify.

As she was quoted back in 2014, “All I can say is that music is changing so quickly, and the landscape of the music industry itself is changing so quickly, that everything new, like Spotify, all feels to me a bit like a grand experiment. I’m not willing to contribute my life’s work to an experiment that I don’t feel fairly compensates the writers, producers, artists, and creators of this music.”

It seems the landscape might have changed since then and she’s ready to give access to her fans who are using their favorite music streaming service.
