TAG Heuer is returning to Only Watch 2021 in style with the TAG Heuer Only Watch Carbon Monaco. This one-of-a-kind luxury timepiece is set to auction in Geneva on the 6th of November at the biennial ‘Only Watch’ charity watch auction. The Carbon Monaco is a hand-finished version of the iconic Monaco square-cased automatic chronograph, and it will never be made again after this one-off special production.
The TAG Heuer Only Watch Carbon Monaco is clearly inspired by the mythical legend “Dark Lord” watch, a black-PVD-cased Monaco Reference 74033N. This ultra rare and coveted watch was produced in very limited quantities in the mid-1970s and has never even made an appearance in the TAG Heuer catalogue.
In terms of its production and materials, the TAG Heuer Carbon Monaco is forged in black carbon fibre that houses the largest sapphire crystal caseback ever used in a Monaco while also insuring water-resistance. This carbon fibre is also utilized in the distinctive skeleton dial. This dial was formed by milling and drilling the carbon to form unique architectural grooves that bring to mind the strut bars on a racing car. Internally, the Carbon Monaco is fueled by TAG Heuer’s in-house Heuer 02 automatic chronograph, a Swiss-made movement with an 80-hour power reserve.
