vivo’s latest launch of their T Series has come with a lot of intrigue and excitement. Consisting of both the T1 5G and the T1x, these devices are tailor-made for a perfect blend of one’s gaming and lifestyle needs.
I was able to get my hands on the former, as I was able to experience firsthand the T1 5G’s capabilities. For vivo, not only is the T Series their fastest 5G midrange smartphone lineup, but the T1 5G is hailed as their best gaming smartphone paired with a midrange camera powerhouse, so being able to see what this phone is truly made of was definitely quite the treat.
Design:
Coming in two solid-colored designs– Turbo Black and Turbo Cyan –the T1 5G is coated in 3D plastic material which doesn’t necessarily give off a premium feel, but does add a lot of character and style to it, nonetheless.
Its front side sports your typical punch-hole type front camera centered atop the screen, with all of its buttons located at its right side. At its backside, on the other hand, are 2 circles that house the T1 5G’s AI Triple Camera setup– the main camera on top, with the ultrawide and macro cameras at the bottom –and finished with vivo’s logo subtly situated at the bottom.
Moreover, one aspect worth noting is that the platform these cameras are placed on barely protrudes from its rear, making the T1 5G’s backside seemingly completely flat, adding to its overall sleek appearance. Pairing this characteristic with the device being fairly lightweight, the T1 5G has a nice and smooth feel whether held in hand, kept inside your pocket or packed inside your bag.
Display:
Upon first glance, what stood out to me most was how tall and slim the T1 5G is; with a 6.44-inch, 2404×1080 FHD+ AMOLED display, the smartphone definitely has the tools of a device aimed to give its users an experience beyond the usual gaming and entertainment scenes. Aiding in having a display with this size is having such minimal bezels, as well.
Then again, what’s the point of having such a large display if its actual quality were not up to par? Thankfully, the T1 5G’s display does not only boast size, but substance too.
Although marketed more for its gaming aspect, watching videos on YouTube, streaming movies on Netflix and other similar activities are likewise a treat, which shows how the T1 5G’s crisp, vibrant display can be enjoyed in a plethora of ways.
Furthermore, scrolling through Instagram and/or TikTok, browsing the web or simply just going through your phone has also been made pleasant, mainly due to its refresh rate of 90Hz.
Clearly, the extent of the T1 5G’s excellent display can be experienced and enjoyed in numerous ways; possessing a relatively large one is just the bonus.
Performance:
So, how exactly does vivo address one’s gaming and lifestyle needs with the T1 5G? Well, it’s dubbed as their best gaming device for a reason, and the Snapdragon 778G 5G processor (which happens to be the fastest among its peers) is to thank for that. Not only does this facilitate a smooth experience for gaming and/or multitasking, but can also offer a more interactive experience with various features, such as Ultra Game Mode, Multi Turbo 5.0, z-axis linear motor and 4D game vibration.
Gaming has become more pleasurable, as the graphics and gameplay were great, even for the more demanding and high-intensive games. Even after long, extensive sessions, little to no lag and/or delay is evident, showing the prowess of this processor.
When pairing excellent graphics and gameplay with a large and immersive display, spending all day gaming would be quite the temptation. Fortunately, vivo’s Vapor Chamber Cooling System facilitates the dissipation of heat, consequently allowing a smooth gaming experience. More play time, less worrying.
With such a capable processor, gaming isn’t the only aspect with benefits. Multitasking was likewise smooth and seamless, impressively even after heavy usage.
Running on vivo’s Funtouch OS 12, the T1 5G has 8GB+4GB Extended RAM, as well as 128GB of storage.
Camera:
Along with vivo dubbing this device as an exceptional gaming phone, they have also equipped it with the necessary tools to label it as a camera powerhouse, as well. As mentioned earlier, the smartphone sports an AI Triple Camera setup which consists of a 64MP (f/1.79) main camera, an 8MP (f/2.2) ultrawide camera, 2MP (f/2.4) macro camera, and a 16MP (f/2.0) front camera.
I greatly enjoyed the numerous functions the camera possesses, such as Night mode, portrait, slow-mo, time-lapse and dual view, to name a few. What makes utilizing these different features even more amusing is that its product has quality to show. Although not necessarily the most mind-blowing camera, its detail, vibrance and clarity are all evident, nevertheless. To add on to that, the T1 5G supports 4K video recording, perfect for those content creators.
Battery:
To support the immersive gaming and entertainment experience, vivo has equipped the T1 5G with a capable battery, with respectable capacities of 4700mAh. Furthermore, a 66W FlashCharge is paired with the large battery that can impressively charge up to half of its total capacity in a mere 18 minutes, allowing you to enjoy more time on your device and less time worrying about the T1 5G dying on you.
Especially as such a powerful device that will be put into heavy usage, having a capable battery that can meet that demand is a big plus. When multitasking and going through various apps, I was impressed that it didn’t consume as much power as I thought it would. When gaming, especially when playing those on the more graphically-intense side, it did drain more of its battery as expected, but still not at any alarming rate, whatsoever.
Verdict:
It’s quite evident how much emphasis vivo has put into the “play” side of things, whether for the gaming or the lifestyle aspect, with equipping the T1 5G with an excellent processor and an exciting camera. At the price of only P16,999, you can very well know what exactly you’re getting with the T1 5G, and you know that it will do just that exceptionally.
