One of the biggest news to come out of this partnership is the free in-car Wi-Fi for Uber vehicles. Smart and PLDT will be providing the network. This free Internet connection is a first for Uber in Southeast Asia. It’ll roll out first to select Uber Black vehicles and will be coming to to other Uber rides in the coming months.

Also to commemorate the partnership, Smart is giving away two free Uber rides worth P300 each to Metro Manila-based subscribers who are also first time Uber users. The free rides can be used anywhere in Metro Manila until September 30.

Smart and Uber promise to offer more special promotions, discounts and the like to Smart subscribers.

Uber riders aren’t the only one benefitting from the deal, though. As Uber partner drivers will be offered exclusive voice and data packages, bundles, and add ons. They will also be offered exclusive phone offers.

The Uber drivers will also gain access to Smart SIM cards and special handset and tablet deals via an Uber online store using Voyager Innovation’s Tack This! eCommerce platform. Drivers who get accredited by Uber will gain access to the store.
