What does “S” stand for?
If you were thinking the “S” in SUHD means “super” or “spectacular,” then we’re sorry to disappoint but that isn’t what that means.

It doesn’t really stand for a specific word but rather the Samsung concept of “S” representing the premium products they offer (think Galaxy S line of phones).

The high-end look and feel of the SUHD line is emphasized in the SUHD JS9500 model, which features a chamfer bezel design. The JS9000, meanwhile, has textured shirring at the rear.

Also, SUHD doesn’t represent new display technology. These TVs still make use of LCD technology, specifically LED-backlit LCD TVs that have UHD 4K resolution. But they have integrated some new features into the mix.

Aside from having 4K resolution, Samsung boosts picture quality with its nano-crystal technology, which is said to produce a wider range of colors and give you better color reproduction.

The extras
Aside from getting excellent picture quality and premium design, the new SUHD come with some bonus features for the entire family.

The Tizen-powered TV introduces Family TV 2.0 that gives you the ability to save and send photos as well as sound bites of your favorite TV shows. It can even serve as your alarm clock in the morning and present you with the relevant news and weather information of the day. These TVs even allow for USB-to-USB transfer.

The SUHD line also comes with a new Sports mode that allows you to see the latest basketball and boxing match up close and personal. You can zoom in on the action and even playback the highlights of the game.

There are three new models for the SUHD series (JS9500, JS9000, and JS8500) with screen sizes ranging from 55 to 88 inches.

Talking audio
To complete the experience, Samsung also launched new speakers the omnidirectional WAM 7500/6500 and the Curved Soundbar.

The egg-shaped WAM 7500/6500 promises 360-degree sound with its ring radio technology. It’s even easy to set up—you just need to connect it to a router and plug the unit in.

The Curved Soundbar series complements the Curved TVs with sizes ranging from 48 to 78 inches. It has a 9.1 channel audio with a central speaker and side speakers on each end. Its subwoofer comes with Samsung’s Multi-Air gap to provide you with deeper bass. The Curved Soundbar also offers multi-room functionality and wireless connectivity.
