Not hampered by the events of 2016, Samsung starts the new year right with a new set of smartphones—the Samsung Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A7.
Inspired by Samsung’s latest batch of flagships, the Galaxy A Series packs top-of-the-line features into a much more affordable package that suits those with a dynamic lifestyle. The A Series comes in two variants: the A5 (2017) with a 5.2-inch screen, and the A7 (2017) which comes with a 5.7-inch screen. It comes in three stylish colors: Black Sky, Gold Sand, and Blue Mist (exclusive to A7).
Both phones are encased in a metal frame and 3D glass back that stays true to Samsung’s design philosophy. They are also IP68-certified for water and dust resistance, a feature that was once exclusive to flagships. They can withstand being submerged in up to 1.5 meters of fresh water for up to 30 minutes.
The series comes with a large 16-megapixel high-resolution front and rear cameras that can take amazing photos even in low-light conditions with an f/1.9 aperture. It also comes with 32GB of internal storage, which can be expanded up to 256GB via microSD. For greater flexibility, the series comes with two SIM card slots and a separate microSD.
Fast charging makes a return in the A Series. The A5 carries a 3,000mAh battery while the A7 has a 3,600mAh battery. Both are compatible with fast charging. They are built with a reversible USB Type-C port.
For all of its flagship features, the A Series is reasonably priced. The Galaxy A5 retails for P19,990 while the Galaxy A7 costs P23,990. They are available in Samsung Experience Stores, official retailers, and online through Lazada.
