Just when we thought tech brands have exhausted all the creative possibilities for smartphone designs, realme surprises us with its trailblazing aesthetics. Recently launched realme 11 Pro+ 5G is truly a head-turner. Its rear embraces a whole new look – all eyes on the premium vegan leather design.
Sharing the spotlight is the fancy looking camera layout that boasts a whopping 200MP main camera. Is it as good as it looks? Read on to find out.
Design and build
Props to realme for never running out of ideas to stay fashionable; the brand’s latest number series is a living proof of that. Since smartphones are considered accessories, the tech brand took that quite literally and collaborated with former Gucci Prints designer, Matteo Menoto.
The rear design is made with premium vegan leather that also has a 3D woven texture stretching from top to bottom, resembling zippers – often found on high-end clothing pieces. One cannot ignore the superb craftsmanship that led to its luxurious look and feel.
Given the eccentric design language, it might be an acquired taste for some. But personally, this is more welcome in my book.
The realme 11 Pro+ 5G comes in Oasis Green (model in review) and Sunrise Beige. Both colorways strike a perfect balance between being minimalist and flashy.
Apart from the design, it excels in durability and ergonomics too. First, it’s built with 0.65mm Double-Reinforced Glass, which according to realme can survive a 1m drop test. Second, the curved edges, slim frame (8.2mm), and light build (183g) offer the necessary comfort for long-time mobile users.
Display
The realme 11 Pro+ 5G inherited most of its predecessor’s attributes. That’s not to say it’s just ordinary because it’s quite the opposite. The device features a 6.7-inch AMOLED curved display with 120Hz refresh rate and 93.65% screen-to-body ratio.
First off, you’ll be greeted by the snappy and breezy interaction. This is followed by the lively colors and crisp details presented by the borderless screen. Accompanying the impressive visuals is the Dolby Atmos dual speakers. All in all, I admire realme’s consistency in stirring up the perfect mix for an immersive view experience.
Much of the upgrades have something to do with its outdoor visibility and mistouch prevention feature. The former has been improved to 950 nits peak brightness, while the latter offers 20% increase in controlled area with the X-touch Anti-mistouch Algorthim 2.0.
Finally the TUV Rheinland Flicker-Free and Low Blue Light certifications will allow users to guiltlessly and painlessly binge-watch for long hours. I, myself, will benefit greatly from this.
Camera
Adding appeal to the rear panel is the round camera module headlined by the 200MP main camera; with added flair since it’s designed with Samsung’s HP3 Isocell Sensor. After a few shots with it, the results left me in awe. The photos speak for themselves. They all showcase vivid colors and surprising amounts of detail.
One of the highlights would be the 2x and 4x In-Sensor Zoom. It puts in the work to produce images with uncompromised quality even when zoomed in. It’s nearly as good as shots that aren’t magnified. The same is true when taking photos with the 8MP ultra-wide camera.
Unsurprisingly, it’s highly accomplished when it comes to night photography. Even in dim environments, it was able to produce bright images with a good amount of detail. And I bet the OIS played a significant role here as well.
These days more people have an appetite for bite-sized content. The role of content creators is to produce high-quality footage to keep their viewers entertained. The ability of the realme 11 Pro+ 5G to shoot videos in 4K is something creators can rave about.
Flipping the phone, you’ll find the 32MP Sony IMX615 Selfie Camera. Its performance was slightly above average. The details of selfies deserve generous compliments; however, I wish I could say the same about the colors. When we’re faced with challenging lighting situations, the skin tone appears slightly washed out or pale.
On a good note, when you find the sweet spot (literally) to take your selfies, all elements in the photo will look naturally vibrant with impressive amounts of detail.
Performance
Under the hood, we have the MediaTek Dimensity 7050 processor powering the device. On paper, it might not be the top-tier processor in the segment. However, in real life scenarios and spec-sheet aside, it can perform on par with its competitors.
To be specific, it can carry out light-to-moderate tasks such as browsing and short-form video editing effortlessly. For more demanding tasks like gaming, it didn’t disappoint either. Running titles like Mobile Legends and Asphalt 9 was lag-free and uninterrupted even when you play for a sustained period of time.
Equally important, the realme 11 Pro+ generously comes with 12GB RAM and 512GB ROM. You can multitask without any hitch and hoard as many photos and videos as you’d like, respectively.
Battery
Longevity won’t be an issue as the realme 11 Pro+ 5G houses a hefty 5000mAh battery. With light use, the device can last a little over a day. But even with moderate to heavy use, it can keep you company beyond your 9 to 5.
Once you’ve maxed out your device, charging time will feel like a fleeting moment thanks to the 100W SUPERVOOC charger it came with.
Verdict
Everything considered, the realme 11 Pro+ 5G is a solid mid-ranger that’ll surely spice things up in its already competitive segment. It had a major glow up that its predecessor can only dream of. At the same time, you won’t be able to pass up on its consistently good display and flagship-level camera features.
The top-of-the-line variant (12GB RAM + 512GB ROM) is priced at PHP24,999. With what it brings to the table, you get more than your money’s worth.
