realme is off to a good start. Radiating luxury and elegance, the first ever realme book is definitely a stunner. And it doesn’t stop there. It’s paired with features that are above par, that will make one wonder if it’s really the brand’s newcomer. Find out more about what charmed me about realme’s first.
Display and audio
The realme Book sports a 14” IPS Full screen with 3:2 aspect ratio; the latter makes it suitable for office work wherein a bigger vertical content display is preferable. This increases productivity since scrolling often to go through documents will be minimized. It also has significantly slimmer 5.3mm bezels.
As mentioned in my first impression article, one of the highlights is the 2K Full-Vision Display (2160×1440). This was also coupled with a 100% sRGB wide color gamut and a peak brightness of 400 nits. All of which greatly contributed to a clearer, more saturated and colorful visual display indoors or outdoors, making its screen display one of the features that stood out for me.
I appreciate the efforts to provide an immersive experience—watching my favorite series was a pleasurable one. Because aside from the above-mentioned screen display features, it has a great audio system brought about by its Dual Harman speakers, which support DTS HD stereo sound effects. Now we can witness something close to a cinematic experience!
Design and build
The combination of the aluminum alloy body and Real Grey colorway was the recipe for a premium design for the realme Book. The subtle but classy mirror logo on the cover was just icing on the cake.
Weighing only 1.38kg, with 14.9mm thickness, portability is also a highlight. With its light weight and slim feature, the sleek appearance of the realme Book was heightened. Since it’s comparably lighter than other laptops in the market, it’s suitable for people who are always on the go.
As for the keyboard, the keys were perfectly placed and worked with accuracy, providing comfort while typing. The backlight option added to its ease of use even in low light conditions. Thus, the aforementioned reduced errors and typos, which I find undervalued yet essential. Meanwhile, the trackpad provided the same ease. I never had a problem with it and it was also responsive. My overall experience for both was very satisfying.
On the left side of the laptop, you’ll find both USB-C and Thunderbolt 4 ports. While on the right are the USB-A port and 3.5mm headphone jack. It wouldn’t be complete without its HD front camera located top center of the screen.
The power button at the top right of the keyboard works as a fingerprint reader too; and fortunately, it unlocks my laptop in a flash.
Under the hood
Thanks to its 11th gen Intel Core i5-1135G7 processor and Intel Iris Xe graphics card, it offers gamers a laptop that is capable and competent enough to bring a smooth and immersive gaming experience. The same goes for content creators.
It supports up to 8GB dual-channel LPDDR4x RAM and 512GB SSD storage. The former might be the only one that needs some boost; however, for day-to-day tasks it’s more than sufficient and is able to perform really well.
We ran the device through benchmarks and these were the results:
- Cinebench- 4,227 (Multi-core), 1,094 (Single-core)
- 3D Mark- 1,237 (Graphics score)
- PC Mark- 4,488
Battery life
If you work from 9 to 5, it will be just enough to power you through your work hours. It may not hold the largest battery capacity with 54Wh, but on the bright side, the laptop comes with a 65W Super-Fast Charge, so you can resume with your activities in no time.
Verdict
realme dove into a sea of competitors. And for a first attempt, it doesn’t fall behind with its features and specs. It makes it even more competitive with its price point of PHP47,990. You get a laptop with premium design, amazing audio visuals, and a powerful processor, without hurting your wallet because you’ll get more than your money’s worth.
