Review: realme C67

realme recently launched another entry-level smartphone; this time it’s an addition to the C series — the C67. What I commend about the tech brand is its obvious efforts to make premium features available in the entry-level segment. That’s one way to win the hearts of the crowd. Find out what it has to offer.

Design and build

The C67 dons a refreshing look in the shade of Sunny Oasis. Adding flair to the rear are the subtle lines that resemble the rays of the sun. If you want a toned down hue, you can reach for Black Rock option.

Another thing that might capture your attention is the design of the camera layout. It has nice gold accents that add the premium touch. However, it feels quite bulky with the thick protrusion.

Overall the build feels lightweight and slim at 185g and 7.59mm, respectively. Additionally, it feels easy to grip and comfortable enough to hold for long hours. However, the rear feels a little plasticky – not surprising for this price point though.

On the bright side, I’m grateful to take home a smudge-proof rear. Anything that leaves a fingerprint is just irksome. To add to that, it has IP54 Dust and Water Resistance, giving you that much needed protection during your daily grind.

Display

Situated in front is the 6.72-inch FHD+ IPS LCD display with 90Hz refresh rate and 91.4% screen-to-body ratio. This translates to adequately smooth and vibrant visuals.

If you love binge watching series on Netflix and doom scrolling on Instagram, you’ll still feel satisfied with what the front panel has to offer. It’s not bad at all being a budget-friendly smartphone.

What’s worth talking about are the updates done with the transformative selfie cutout that the tech brand calls the Mini Capsule 2.0. This was first introduced in the realme C55 with just a few functions like showing you the battery status, data usage, and steps taken.

Thankfully, they added more fun functions, emulating Apple’s Dynamic Island. You’ll see a sound wave animation when you play music on Spotify, and at the same time you have the option to swipe left or right to change the music. Meeting reminders and weather notifications are also the additions.

The sound wave animation isn’t that smooth; but generally speaking, the Mini Capsule 2.0 is still the next best thing if you want that highly coveted flagship feature.

Camera

The rear houses the dual rear camera setup, including the 108MP main camera with 3x In-Sensor zoom that uses Samsung HM6 sensor, as well as the 2MP depth camera. Amid good lighting, it was able to produce good quality shots, showcasing sufficient details and rich colors.

The 3x In-Sensor zoom worked its magic as it retained the details of the photos. There were no compromises in quality. However, I wish I could say the same when the lighting situation is a little challenging. It’s quite noticeable that the quality takes a hit in low light conditions. Having steady hands is imperative.

On the flip side, you get the 8MP selfie camera. Shots you take are decent enough and can easily pass for posting on your social media accounts without edits.

Performance

Powering the C67 is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 685 processor. Our unit is paired with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. There were no hitches when I tried executing light-to-moderate tasks like browsing through social media, responding to emails, and streaming series on Netflix.

Likewise, when it comes to mobile gaming, the device didn’t disappoint. It still delivered a smooth experience while playing games like Mobile Legends.

Lastly, as a memory hoarder, I’m glad it came with a large storage capacity for my stock photos. And if that’s not enough, the C67 is expandable up to 2TB through its dedicated slot.

Battery

Built with quite a hefty battery life of 5000 mAh, you can expect the C67 to last you for a full day without any intermission just to charge.

The device comes with a 33W SuperVOOC Charging Adapter, which based on my experience powered up the C67 from 0 to 100% in an hour and a half. Even though that seems like a long wait, I have no complaints given how infrequent I find myself needing to charge.

Verdict

Even with the realme C67’s entry-level stature, it didn’t skimp on the value it can provide most users who simply look for everyday reliability. For entertainment, you can enjoy the large display to binge watch and play light mobile games. When duty calls, you can multitask seamlessly. And if you’re a creator who loves to shoot in broad daylight, this one’s for you.

Of course, if you find the Dynamic Island very appealing then the new functions of C67’s Mini Capsule 2.0 will definitely get you excited.

It comes with a lot of surprises in an affordable package. The 8GB + 128GB variant is worth PHP 9,999, while the 8GB + 256GB option is priced at PHP 10,999.
