Realme C63 review: The smart and durable all-weather companion

When the going gets tough, the tough get going. It’s only natural for people to experience difficulties in life. I know – sounds a little too deep for a smartphone review, right? However naturally, we tend to search for a device that reflects our own durability and perseverance.

This is relevant more than ever with the intense weather we have been experiencing. In comes the realme C63 – a durable and weather-proof companion that is built to last. Let’s see if this is a smartphone you can rely on in any real-life scenario.

Design and build

For full reviews, I don’t usually start with the color options provided. This is a special case in that the two unique colors have an effect on the device’s weight. The two options are Jade Green which weighs in at 189g, and Leather Blue at 191g.

The latter happens to be the unit I tested, and its vegan leather design seems to be the source of the additional weight. Aesthetically, I am a huge fan of this finish as it evokes elegance, while remaining quite subtle. It also makes the device easier to grip. Coupled with its slim profile at 7.74mm, the smartphone is definitely portable.

It’s important to note that the back cover is not just a pretty face. realme Labs have certified the realme C63 for high reliability. It’s durable enough to withstand accidental drops and grazing from small objects such as keys and rocks.

The smartphone works well against liquids as well. Whether it be soft drinks, coffee or different condiments, you are assured that these will not stain the back cover or affect its finish. Safe to say that rainwater will be the least of your worries.

The IP54 Dust and Water Resistance rating paired with the Rainwater Smart Touch feature which allows the user to easily navigate through the device despite damp hands, ensures the realme C63 can withstand the harshest of storms.

Display

The realme C63 features a 6.74-inch HD+ display with a 90Hz refresh rate. I have no qualms with the device as consuming multimedia was seamless and enjoyable. Navigating through the smartphone was also a smooth experience.

In terms of brightness, the display can go from 450 nits to 560 nits in High Brightness Mode. There is even an option to turn it down to 1 nit of brightness to help your eyes in poorly lit places.

Mini Capsule 2.0 is also a feature of the device as well. It can display different information such as charging and battery status, step tracking, weather notifications and of course, music playback control (a fan favorite).

Camera

In terms of its main shooter, the realme C63 is equipped with a 50MP AI camera. The images captured with the main camera came out fairly decent with good clarity and vibrancy.

Portrait Mode and Night mode also come embedded with realme UI. Photos captured on these modes were fair. This smartphone isn’t meant to take the greatest and most detailed pictures out there. But for the purpose of everyday use and posting on social media, it can get the job done.

For taking videos, it can support up to 1080p@30fps.

On the other hand, the front camera is an 8MP shooter. Similar to the main camera, all I can really say is that it can get the job done.

Overall, the camera systems on the realme C63 have sufficient capabilities. For everyday sharing online and with your friends, you can’t really go wrong with what this smartphone can provide. If you’re looking for professional-level quality cameras on your phones, then you might need to open up your wallet some more.

Performance and features

A Unisoc T612 Processor is what makes this device run. It comes with up to 256GB of storage and 8GB of RAM with an additional 8GB of Dynamic RAM Extension as well. realme UI, which is based on Android 14 is also what makes this smartphone tick.

In terms of gaming, I tested Call of Duty: Mobile on this device. If you didn’t know by now, shooters are my favorite regardless of the platform I’m gaming on. I ran the title on the highest graphics settings and the experience was smooth and hitch-free. There were no framerate drops to be reported.

Real Essentials is also making another cameo on a realme device. I initially reviewed these features along with the realme C65 and now, they have found their way into the C63. These are features that are meant to improve the user’s quality of life and provide a smoother experience when it comes to everyday tasks. For a full breakdown of Real Essentials, you can check out the full review of the realme C65 here.

Battery and charging

The realme C63 is powered by a 5,000mAh battery. You can expect more than a full day’s worth of usage with different scenarios.

It also supports a 45W SUPERVOOC charge for fast charging. You can achieve a full charge from a fully drained battery between 70-80 mins. The device has also been given TUV Rheinland Safe Fast-Charge System Certification to guarantee safety against overheating and short circuiting.

Verdict

The realme C63 is truly an all-weather smartphone that is definitely built to last. It is a robust and long-lasting player in the entry-level space which makes it a worthy investment for the long haul.

For only Php 8,999, the realme C63 embodies durability and can get you through any storm. It’s as tough as its user demands it to be, and gets going when you need it to. One might even say that this device is as resilient and reliable as the Filipino people themselves.
