Jaguar Land Rover Philippine distributor Inchcape introduced recently two stunning high-performance flagships for its Range Rover and Land Rover brands—the Range Rover Sport SV Edition Two and the Land Rover Defender Octa.
Range Rover Sport SV Edition Two
The Range Rover Sport SV Edition Two sets the benchmark in its segment with unmatched world-first technologies and dynamic capability in an assertive vision of sporting luxury. It’s simply the most powerful Ranger Rover ever. It offers a dramatic performance-honed exterior, which blends unique exterior paint colorways with new carbon fiber finishers and SV Performance seats in a range of colors, with a choice of innovative knit textiles or Windsor leather for a dynamic and cosseting interior.
The Range Rover Sport SV also features exclusive branding on the front splitter, center console, treadplates and puddle lamps; a mark of sporting luxury that makes it instantly recognizable.
Geraldine Ingham, Managing Director, Range Rover, said: “What makes Range Rover Sport SV so desirable is its unique combination of dynamic performance, modern sporting luxury design, its cutting-edge sensory technology and breadth of capability.”
Its array of performance-enhancing technologies includes the most advanced suspension system in its class and a sensory audio system with wellness benefits.
Stunning on-road performance
Powered exclusively by a 635ps, 750Nm 4.4-liter twin-turbo MHEV V8 petrol engine, the Range Rover Sport SV is capable of accelerating from 0-100kph in just 4.0 seconds and reaching a top speed of 290 km/h.
This outstanding performance is enabled by a combination of features that deliver a weight saving of up to 76kg, including Carbon Ceramic Brakes option, and standard-fit aerodynamic enhancements including a carbon fiber hood.
Owners can also specify specially designed summer tires, which extends the vehicle’s cornering capability, with up to 1.2g lateral acceleration achievable in the dry (0.1g increase vs the standard-fit all-season tire).
Created with technical partner Michelin, the Pilot Sport S 5 tire (275/40R23 front, 305/35R23 rear) features a variety of different compounds across the tread width to maximize dynamic performance and wear.
Tech-laden interior with cutting-edge design
Range Rover Sport SV’s exclusive front SV Performance Seats feature integrated headrests, carbon fiber backs, an illuminated SV logo and more sculpted bolsters to hold the driver and their front-seat passenger securely in place during high-performance driving. The 16-way adjustable seats feature massage functionality and are heated and cooled. Cutting-edge Body and Soul Seat in-car sensory technology is fitted as standard.
Matching rear seats – also heated and cooled – feature a more dynamic design with pronounced side bolsters, yet retain powered recline and 60/40 split folding functionality.
Range Rover Sport SV’s redesigned steering wheel features more pronounced thumb grips, a thicker rim and exclusive illuminated SV Mode button. A short press puts the vehicle into SV Mode, immediately configuring its suspension, powertrain, steering, transmission and Active Exhaust for maximum performance. A long press opens the Configurable Dynamics menu, where the driver can tailor the dynamic characteristics of Range Rover Sport SV to suit their preferences.
The enlarged gear-shift paddles incorporate innovative LED Edge-Lighting Technology. The +/- symbols are illuminated white when the vehicle is switched on. When SV Mode is activated, the illumination changes to red.
The Range Rover Sport SV Edition Two is now available in the Philippines. Prices start from P32,490,000.00 and is now available for viewing in Range Rover dealerships in Greenhills and Bonifacio Global City.
Land Rover Defender Octa
The new Defender Octa is the toughest, most capable and most luxurious model in the legendary Defender family. The distinctive exterior is bolder and tougher than ever. The ride height is raised, its stance widened, and wheel arches extended for incredible presence. Redesigned bumpers give improved approach and departure angles, while tough underbody protection gives drivers the confidence to explore further over rough terrain. It will wade deeper than any production Defender before – through up to one meter of water.
Mark Cameron, Managing Director, Defender, said: “With new Defender Octa we have been able to unlock the full potential of Defender. It is the very definition of breadth of capability, and a testament to what we can achieve utilizing the very best technologies and talents within our engineering division. With its powerful V8 engine, ground-breaking 6D Dynamics suspension technology, exquisite finishes and unique detailing, it is rare, incredibly tough and inherently desirable.”
The Defender Octa’s name is derived from the toughest and most desirable mineral on earth – a diamond – and the octahedral shape that gives their distinctive appearance and durability. This shape also inspired the new signature graphic, which denotes it as the flagship Defender – strong and resilient, yet rare and desirable.
Every Defender Octa wears a new encircled diamond graphic, including a gloss black diamond within a machined and sandblasted titanium disc on each Signature Graphic panel.
The tough luxury of Defender Octa is epitomized by Defender Octa Edition One. It features an exclusive new Faroe Green paint color with a Khaki and Ebony Ultrafabrics PU and seamless Knit interior, new Chopped Carbon Fiber detailing, and 20-inch forged alloy wheels with a choice of all-terrain or optional specially developed advanced all-terrain tires.
Unparalleled performance
The Defender Octa brings unheard of performance to Defender. Powered by a 635ps 4.4-liter twin-turbo mild-hybrid V8 engine mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission with high and low range gears, it is the most powerful and most extreme Defender ever. The Defender Octa can reach 250 km/h when fitted with 22-inch lightweight alloy wheels and all-season tires.
With 750Nm of torque (up to 800Nm with Dynamic Launch Mode selected) and tuned to suit the vehicle’s outstanding all-terrain performance, the Defender Octa is capable of accelerating from 0-100 km/h in 4.0 seconds, while peak torque is available from just 1,800rpm.
Incredible capability and durability
The Defender Octa’s dynamic capabilities go beyond what any Defender has achieved before, with the introduction of hydraulically-interlinked 6D Dynamics suspension technology for the first time on a Defender, alongside extensive hardware and geometry changes. It’s designed to be as fun to drive on-road as off-road, with no compromises.
The Defender Octa sits 28mm higher and has a stance widened by 68mm for superior ground clearance and stability. To ensure unparalleled confidence and control on any terrain, with both maximum wheel articulation off-road and reduced roll on-road, revised suspension components include longer and tougher wishbones, and unique active dampers with separate accumulators. It also features uprated 400mm front brake discs with Brembo calipers and the fastest steering ratio of any Defender to date, for immediate, precise, responses.
A bespoke testing and development program with more than 13,960 additional tests, including high-speed off-road and on-road durability, had to be created for Defender Octa, as the team entered realms of capability and robustness that have never been explored before.
Jamal Hameedi, Director of SVO, JLR, said: “Our high-performance experts have achieved the impossible with Defender Octa, working tirelessly over the past three years to create the most capable Defender ever made – regardless of which surface it is enjoyed on. They have re- engineered components throughout the vehicle to ensure Defender OCTA is the perfect companion for epic adventures anywhere on the planet.”
An advanced network of hydraulically-interlinked continuously variable semi-active dampers virtually eliminates pitch and body roll on-road, the 6D Dynamics system also contributing to unprecedented comfort and refinement for Defender. On rough terrain, 6D Dynamics enables greater wheel articulation and will tackle even more extreme obstacles in superior comfort.
The full capabilities of new Defender Octa – which can automatically detect which surface it is being driven on and optimize its dynamic settings accordingly – are unlocked via its enhanced drive modes. In addition to the default Comfort Mode, Dynamic Mode provides the ultimate performance-focused on-road experience, tuning the vehicle’s steering, throttle and suspension settings with one press of the transparent signature logo button on the steering wheel.
A long press of the same button accesses Octa Mode, the first ever dedicated Defender off-road driving mode with a performance focus. This has been specially developed to ensure ultimate control and driver confidence. Octa Mode also enables an Off-Road Launch mode for optimum acceleration on loose surfaces. And, when combined with the lowest traction control settings (TracDSC or DSC off) it also engages a unique Off-Road ABS calibration for optimum braking performance on loose surfaces, too.
For more technical off-road maneuvers, Defender’s suite of familiar Terrain Response modes remain at the driver’s fingertips, with specific calibrations for Sand, Mud and Ruts, Grass Gravel Snow, and Rock Crawl – assisted by off-road driver aids such as ClearSight Ground View, which effectively makes the hood transparent for improved visibility and reassurance off the beaten track.
Confident exterior
Defender’s imposing presence and all-terrain focus is given a bold new attitude for Defender Octa. It features 33-inch diameter tires, the largest ever fitted to a production Defender, including a Goodyear Advanced All-Terrain Tiredeveloped specifically for the Octa model. This has required extended wheel arches, which complement off-road-optimized front bodywork with unique grille designs allowing greater under-hood airflow, a new rear bumper incorporating a four-exit active exhaust system, tough underbody protection including an aluminum alloy front under shield with graphite finish and exposed Phosphor Bronze-finished front and rear recovery points.
Defender Octa’s color palette includes two exclusive new premium metallic finishes: Petra Copper plus Faroe Green and Carpathian Grey (for Defender OCTA Edition One), while all Defender Octa models feature a contrast roof and tailgate in gloss Narvik Black.
Engaging, immersive interior
Inside, two highly durable Ultrafabrics PU options – 30 per cent lighter than traditional leather – are available. This seat finish is standard on Defender Octa Edition One, in duo-tone Khaki and Ebony, with a knit textile and reductive, seamless finish. The standard interior is a new Burnt Sienna semi-aniline leather, with Kvadrat textile trim in Ebony.
The Defender OCTA Edition One has an indicative price of PHP 26,590,000.00 while the Defender Octa is priced from PHP 24,590,000.00 and is now available for viewing in Defender dealerships in Greenhills and Bonifacio Global City.
