Comprehensive upgrades define the latest model of the iconic sports car
Porsche Philippines has introduced the new 911 Carrera, which features a revamped design, refreshed interior, upgraded standard equipment, and improved connectivity. With the changes, Porsche’s iconic sports car promises to deliver an even more immersive driving experience.
The new 911 Carrera arrives in the Philippines powered by a twin-turbo 3.0-liter six-cylinder boxer engine that has been extensively revised. The latest model carries over features from the 911 Turbo models, including a charge-air cooler located above the engine and directly under the rear grille.
The turbochargers in the new 911 Carrera originate from previous 911 GTS models. With these modifications, the new model achieves reduced emissions and increased power — it now has 394 hp at 7,500 rpm and 450 Nm of torque. The 8-speed PDK (Porsche Doppelkupplung) transmission has been improved to make shifting even more seamless during spirited drives.
The performance changes allow the new 911 Carrera to accelerate from rest to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds (3.9 seconds with the Sport Chrono package), and reach a top speed of 294 km/h.
Dynamically streamlined exterior
Porsche has streamlined the exterior design of the new 911 Carrera with carefully selected updates, many of which improve the aerodynamics and overall performance of the sports car. The changes include new, model-specific front aprons. Porsche has also integrated all lighting functions into the Matrix LED headlights that are characterized by a four-point look, which now come as standard. This makes it possible to omit the ancillary front lights, creating space for larger cooling vents in the front of the car.
A redesigned light strip with an integrated light arc and “PORSCHE” lettering makes the rear end of the new 911 Carrera appear deeper and wider. A redesigned rear grille with five fins on each side combines with the rear window to form a visual unit that merges into the retractable spoiler below. The number plate is positioned higher, with a neatly structured rear bumper.
Model-specific exhaust systems blend elegantly into the car’s lower rear section. A sports exhaust system is available as an option for the 911 Carrera models.
Further ensuring both performance and aesthetics of the new 911 Carrera are 20-inch wheels in front and 21-inch wheels at the rear.
Fully digital cockpit
Porsche has designed the interior of the new 911 Carrera either in two-seat or 2+2 seat configuration. And, for the first time, the 911 Carrera has a fully digital instrument cluster. Central to this is the 12.6-inch curved display that fits elegantly into the new control and display concept, and which can be extensively customized. It offers up to seven views, including an exclusive Classic display based on the traditional Porsche design’s five round dials, at the center of which is the rev counter.
The cockpit of the new 911 Carrera combines the familiar 911 design DNA with the latest technology — the Porsche Driver Experience control concept focuses on intuitive and quick operation. Essential control elements have been positioned directly on or around the steering wheel, including the mode switch, and the redesigned driver assistance lever.
For the first time, the 911 is fitted with a start button, which serves as a nod to GT racing cars. Following tradition, this button is located at the left of the steering wheel.
Enhanced connectivity
In the new 911 Carrera, the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system is still operated via the high-resolution central display with a 10.9-inch screen. But the customization options for the driving modes and the operation of the driver assistance systems have been significantly improved.
New connectivity features complement these. Apple CarPlay is now more deeply integrated into the car, displaying information in the instrument cluster and facilitating the operation of vehicle functions by using the Siri voice assistant.
With these new features and technologies, the new 911 Carrera blends modern technologies and high performance with timeless design, nurturing the essence of what makes the 911 a true icon.
