PayMaya Philippines, the digital and finance payment solutions of PLDT and Smart, introduced a new way to transact and pay for various products and services at the first big music festival of the year—GoodVybes Fest 2016.
Taking the lead from some of the biggest music festivals in the world—Coachella, Lollapalooza, and Tomorrowland—helped the many music fans who attend GoodVybes to pay for services without having to bring out cash. All the attendees had to do was load the PayMaya card with minimum of P300 and they get the card, which they could then use to pay for food, beverage, services (like the P100 airconditioned portalet sponsored by Moddess, Carefree, and Clean & Clear), and merchandise.
The merchants, in turn, were issued with PayMaya Swipe Terminals to complete payment transactions for Mastercard and Visa. It generally worked well but sometimes the processing of the payments took a couple of minutes. We’re not sure where the issue lies in this instance. But otherwise it was a seamless experience. We were immediately alerted via SMS if any purchases were made, which we thought added to the security of the card. There’s also, of course, the PayMaya app (which is on Android and iOS) where you can check the balance of your PayMaya card.
The use of the PayMaya doesn’t end at GoodVybes, though. Powered by Visa, you can continue to use the card at establishments, merchants, and service providers that accept Visa. I tried using it at Starbucks post-GoodVybes and was able to pay for my meal. Watch this space for a more detailed look at how PayMaya works.
