Orient Star has launched M42 Diver 1964 2nd Edition F6 Date 200m Titanium from the Sports Collection M42 in a limited edition of 365 pieces, to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Orient’s divers’ watch. The latest model reinterprets the design elements of Calendar Auto Orient released in 1964, giving it a modern twist to create a divers’ watch meeting ISO 6425 standards. Featuring a special color scheme combining lightweight, durable titanium with gold-colored accents, the latest model is appealing in new and different ways.
Modern, high performance divers’ watches backed by advanced technology take center stage in the Sports Collection M42, named after the nebula of Orion, the son of Poseidon, God of the sea. The historical roots of the divers’ watch can be found in the Olympia Calendar Diver and Calendar Auto Orient released in 1964, and models such as Diver 1964 1st Edition released in 2021 and M42 Diver 1964 2nd Edition F6 Date 200m released in 2022 have since inherited their genealogy.
The new 60th anniversary model features titanium on the case and bracelet, making it approximately 35 percent lighter than stainless steel models and an ideal divers’ watch for both sports and daily use. The protective coating on the titanium hardens the surface making it strong enough to endure harsh environments. Titanium also offers excellent resistance to corrosion, seawater and sweat, and is considered to be hypoallergenic making it the ideal material for full-fledged divers’ watches.
This toughness to withstand harsh diving environments is paired with a special color scheme featuring gold-colored accents in celebration of the 60th anniversary of Orient divers’ watches. The grey-toned titanium color and matte finish together with the gold-color of the limited-edition model emphasize its appearance as a diver’s tool. The dark grey dial with vertical hairline finish is adorned with matte gold-colored accents around the Luminous Light indices that allow the time to be read even in the dark, the border of the hands with hairline finish, and Orient Star logo. Gold coloring with matte finish is also visible on the scale and numbers of the rotating bezel’s aluminum insert. These gold-colored accents look striking against the grey titanium and give a touch of elegance and new charm to the divers’ watch.
The latest model offers a screw down crown, screw case-back, dual curved sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, water resistance to 200 meters for scuba diving compliant with the ISO 6425 standard for divers’ watches. The in-house calibre F6N47 provides stable high accuracy and 50-hour power reserve, and indicator which shows the remaining power reserve. Although most Orient Star models come with a power reserve indicator as standard, it is rare to find this feature on divers’ watches.
In a limited-edition gold color and engraved with limited edition and serial number on the case back, the 60th anniversary M42 Diver 1964 2nd Edition F6 Date 200m Titanium model is ideal both for divers’ watch fans and watch aficionados who seek exceptional pieces.
