Orient Star has released two new models from the Contemporary Collection M34, M34 F7 Mechanical Moon Phase Limited Edition and M34 F7 Semi Skeleton Limited Edition, each available in a limited edition of 200 pieces. The new models depict the aurora’s ephemeral light in the dawn sky with a white mother-of-pearl dial and gradation. Design inspiration is taken from the aurora including a strong, sharp case shape – a key design feature of the Contemporary Collection M34 which is named after the star cluster in Perseus.
Space and the natural world are key themes of Orient Star, which is dedicated to producing “shining star” watches. Following in the steps of the aurora-themed M34 F7 Semi Skeleton, which launched in 2023 and used its mother-of-pearl dial and gradation to depict a curtain of colorful light floating in the night sky, Orient Star once again explores the aurora through the limited edition M34 F7 Mechanical Moon Phase and M34 F7 Semi Skeleton models.
The beautiful designs of Orient Star’s iconic semi skeleton and romantic moon phase are enhanced by the image of the aurora at dawn. The mother-of-pearl dial, whose color shifts at different angles, and vertical light grey gradation beautifully depict the scene of an aurora floating in the hazy pale-hued atmosphere just before sunrise. The dual curved sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides (SAR coating) of the glass provides a clear view of the aurora gradually fading away. Mechanical watch fans will be charmed by the new models’ aesthetics and chic, serene dials.
Both models use high-quality stainless steel (SUS316L) for the case and bracelet, and the sharp, powerful case design lies in contrast to the delicate hairline and mirror finish of the Sallaz polishing. The metal bracelet with short pitch H-shaped links for a better fit on the wrist.
The new models are powered by the automatic (with hand winding) in-house calibres F7M65 and F7F44 which provide high accuracy of +15 seconds to –5 seconds per day and power reserve of 50 hours. Both movements with Geneva stripes and chamfer finish are visible through the see-through sapphire crystal case back, which is engraved with limited edition and serial number.
