It’s not uncommon to experience trouble sleeping at night. I, myself, have a fair share of this unwanted occurrence. We all need to feel fueled and energized for the following day’s hustle. Hence, getting to the bottom of things to further improve our sleep quality or solve our sleep issues altogether should be a priority. Luckily, the latest release of the OPPO Watch Free brings sleep quality to the forefront with its OSleep feature, enabling you to do sleep monitoring and analysis. Aside from the aforementioned feature, what other health features can we look forward to in this new smartwatch? Read more to find out.
Design and build
The minimalist yet stylish smartwatch comes in Vanilla and Black colorways. Its strap features a leather-like appearance with a smooth feel. As someone who loves to dress up, it pays off that it’s fashionable and versatile, but I’m also thankful that it’s comfortable to wear because of its lightweight design of 33g.
Display
Users can relish the large 1.64-inch AMOLED screen display. Adding to the delightful experience were the display’s clear quality and vibrant colors. On a different note, the smartwatch was responsive while I explored its features.
Since one of the main functions of the smartwatch is to be used for sports and fitness, the curved 2.5D tempered glass gives the necessary protection from scratches and wear. Activities such as swimming and diving can also be done without any worries as the OPPO Watch Free is water-resistant up to 50m.
Over 40 watch faces are at your disposal, but one notable feature that piqued my interest was the AI Outfit watch face 2.0. This will allow you to generate a watch face that’ll suit your outfit — now that’s one way to instantly elevate your look!
Performance
After trying out the OSleep feature, I was pleased to find out that the results were accurate. It offers comprehensive sleep monitoring and analysis — a bedtime reminder is given before you sleep, sleep monitoring features are active during your sleep, and a sleep report is presented when you wake up.
While it may seem disruptive to share a room with someone who snores, snoring is actually a condition that must be addressed properly in order to avoid subsequent health issues. Personally, I’m not guilty of such but it’s a breath of fresh air to know that the OPPO Watch Free has a snore monitoring feature since this will benefit a lot of people I know. To assess your risk of snoring, all-encompassing data are collected during your sleep such as your SpO2 (blood oxygen) levels, heart rate variability, number of snores, snore volume, among others. These will help detect breathing problems.
If you’re an all-around person who participates in several sports and other physical activities, you can take advantage of the 100+ exercise modes. There’s also the smart recognition of 4 kinds of exercises: running, walking, and working out on a rowing machine or elliptical trainer. Both of which will allow you to track your progress throughout your fitness journey.
As a companion during exercise, the data presented were useful to monitor your energy expenditure and heart rate. The former gives you a better idea if you’ve reached your targeted calorie burn, while the latter makes certain that you exert yourself enough to reap maximum benefits, but not to the extent of overexertion.
Battery
With its lightweight build, you’ll be surprised that it houses a 230mAh battery, which OPPO claims can provide a lengthy use of 14 days. Equally impressive is its capacity to last a full day after a 5-minute charge.
Verdict
Overall, the OPPO Watch Free is a great tool to be on top of your health at a great price (P5,499), especially in the face of a global health crisis. With more people engaging in physical activities and sports outdoors, having this smartwatch as their fitness buddy will give them a better picture of their progress. It doesn’t stop there as the sleep monitoring feature might be the road to experience sleeping like a baby once again.
