Design and Build

Highly recognizable with the signature OPPO Glow, the Reno7 5G embodies yet another design innovation, undergoing Laser Direct Imaging (LDI) to mimic meteor glides. Meanwhile, the dual-texture layer was responsible for the dynamic gradient that changes from cold to warm. The star trail patterns in concert with the ever-changing colors were undeniable recipes for a visual feast.

Highly necessary, but often overlooked — I acknowledge the updated slimmer (7.81mm) and lighter (173g) profile of the smartphone which provided me extra comfort.

What accompanied the 6.4” AMOLED screen is a 90Hz refresh rate; streaming my favorite series on Netflix went by without a hitch, and it was indeed immersive thanks to the fusion of the two.

Camera

The highly anticipated camera of the Reno7 5G, just like its predecessors, doesn’t disappoint. It’s everything they say and more. Situated at the rear is the 64MP HD triple camera setup. Its capacity to produce photos with the likeness of professionals is astonishing, especially for those who have developed a new-found love for photography.

Fast-forward to the best part, the Bokeh Flare Portrait mode did an amazing job highlighting the subject of the photo. I liked how seamless the transition of the background blur was from the subject, as well as the freedom to adjust the depth of field. To add to that, it had vibrant colors that seemed further enhanced after post-processing, amplifying its dramatic effect. My only concern, however, was that details of photos weren’t as sharp in low-light conditions. Nevertheless, the resulting images can come close to portraits taken by a DSLR camera. What’s more, you can enjoy the aforementioned while taking videos through the Bokeh Flare Portrait Video and the outcome was just as great.

Its 32MP ultra-clear front camera was able to capture the details and colors of the portrait shots successfully. In addition, the enhanced Portrait mode allowed me to control the depth of field or level of blurriness with the 25 different aperture sizes. If you’re to use the retouching effects, you might wanna adjust it to make it look more natural though.

We all know the struggle of taking selfies and videos by a bright window due to the tricky lighting situations; thanks to the AI Highlight Video, we no longer have to worry about that. Since Live HDR is automatically enabled, I was able to take videos effortlessly without the backgrounds being overexposed — details of the background were retained.

Other noteworthy features that’ll allow you to exercise your creativity are the AI Color Portrait to impart a unique vibe for your viewers, and Dual-View Video to better narrate your experience while vlogging.

Performance

Powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 900 integrated 5G SoC, the entire experience from light tasks such as scrolling through social media accounts to demanding activities like gaming, went by without any interruption. And I believe this experience can be sustained with its 8GB RAM, supplemented by the RAM Expansion technology. Equally important, the Reno7 5G houses a massive 256GB storage, which completes the package.

It comes with a 4500mAh battery — fairly sized and just enough for your day’s work. The 65W SUPERVOOC charger served me well even though it somewhat varied from what OPPO claims, as I was able to fully charge the phone in under 50 minutes. I witnessed firsthand how beneficial the minimal downtime was, rushing to leave for another engagement.

Here are the results after running the device through 3D Mark and Geekbench:

  • Slingshot: 4078
  • Slingshot Extreme- OpenGL ES 3.1: 3187
  • Wild Life: 1602
  • Wild Life Stress Test: 1614
  • Geekbench Score: 590 (Single-Core Score), 1758 (Multi-Core Score)

Verdict

The OPPO Reno7 5G truly stunned with its trendy and innovative design, but beneath the surface it offers features that are easily attractive to consumers as well. In hopes to create strong and impactful visual content, we have OPPO to thank for making the professional imaging experience more accessible. Because as the saying goes, “A picture is worth a thousand words,” and I’m pleased to say that the OPPO Reno7 5G can work wonders in conveying our message to our audience. In addition, you get highly accomplished specs — 65W supercharger, capable processor, to name a few. All these, at a price point of P26,999, will surely give you your money’s worth.
