Tech YouTuber Marques Brownlee a.k.a. MKBHD has said time and time again how “Cheap phones are getting good. And good phones are getting cheap.” We’ve been seeing a lot of that in the entry-level and mid-range space. The latest one to join the fray is OPPO’s newest budget-friendly option: the A71.
It’s the Chinese company’s first phone with a unibody design and it’s finished with nano-silver technology that makes it feel great in hand. It does actually feel well built, based on the short time we spent with it.
The A71 comes built with a 5.2-inch IPS HD display and is powered by Android 7.1 Nougat skinned with the latest Color OS 3.1, MediaTek MT6750 octa-core processor, 3GB of RAM, 16GB internal storage that’s expandable up to 256GB via microSD, and an ample 3,000mAh battery.
On the camera side, OPPO promises improved optics with a 13-megapixel main camera with 1/3.06 sensor size for better sensitivity and multi-frame denoising tech to offer better performance even in low light. This phone comes with manual mode and offers an Ultra HD mode that promises 52-megapixel photos, which it can do through some software magic. It also has a 5-megapixel front camera with 1.4μm pixel size to have more detail and brighter selfies. OPPO claims its HDR mode promises to give you the best output possible and like other smartphones from the brand comes with preset filters, selfie panorama, and bokeh effect to up your selfie-taking game.
If this seems like an adequate device for you, OPPO is retailing the A71 at P8,990 and it’s now available both in-stores or online at OPPO authorized resellers. Home Credit is also offering the A71 at P927 per month for six months with 0 percent interest. You just need to pay up the 40 percent cash out and submit the required documents.
