Sony decided to forego a live press event at this year’s Mobile World Congress in spite of the rumors that the company has given up on its Xperia brand of devices. The company instead decided to quietly launch a new pair of devices at the annual convention – a new tablet called the Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet and a new mid-range Sony Xperia M4 Aqua smartphone.
The Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet is a 10.1-inch tablet with a high-res 2560 x 1600 pixel IPS screen and is positioned as the company’s latest flagship tablet. It will feature the 2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 64-bit octa-core processor, Adreno 430 GPU, 3GB of RAM, and a rather large 6000mAh battery, among others. On the other hand, the Xperia M4 Aqua is a 5.2-inch smartphone with a 720p screen and a claimed two-day battery life. Both of Sony’s new devices feature IP65 and IP68 water and dustproof ratings which has become quite standard for the company.
