With Samsung, Motorola, and Apple deep into the smartwatch race, it was only a matter of time before Microsoft got into the hunt. Forbes reports that there is an impending launch of a Microsoft wearable. This device will be able to “passively track the wearer’s heart rate and work across several mobile platforms.” The latter part comes as no surprise since the upcoming Windows 10 specifically addresses integration between devices.
What’s more surprising is how Microsoft will attempt to get ahead of its competitors based on what we know. The device boasts two full days of battery life with regular use, while its competitors sport only one day of full battery charge. Also, Microsoft plans to release this device for the holiday season, giving them a head start over the Apple Watch’s early 2015 release.
There have been no leaked images of the device, as of this writing. We’ll only have to wait for the launch to know more about Microsoft’s entry into the smartwatch race.
