Microsoft boosts digital transition with Office 365 E5

You’ve seen a shift in strategy for Microsoft since Satya Nadella took the reins. Opening up its walls beyond its own services and products and bringing it to the digital users of today, whether they’re on Windows, iOS, or Android. It’s an essential move to reach users that aren’t loyal to a specific ecosystem anymore, both personally and professionally.

And that’s why for the modern working environment products like Office 365 come into play. This productivity tool furthers Microsoft’s new mission to “Empower everyone to achieve more” and at the same time bringing essential features that people and companies need of its tools.

Microsoft focused on introducing the three key parts of E5, which is the latest enhancement of the productivity suite.

They mentioned advanced security, which is addressed by features like Predictive eDiscovery, Secure Attachments and Safe URLs with Advanced Threat Protection, and Access Control with Customer Lockbox. During a live demo, Microsoft representative Yvette Watson showed how through Office 365 and its Advanced Threat Protection, it does real-time scans of any malicious links and attachments to make sure only legitimate content make its way to your inboxes.

Another important component is analytics, which makes its way to users via Power BI and Delve Organizational Analytics. This lets employers and employees see essential data for things like boosting productivity (when you check, for example, how much time is spent checking email or how many minutes or hours you spend in a meeting) and even checking data from services such as Google and Facebook Analytics.

The last key part is communications, which is seen in Skype for Business, Cloud PBX, PSTN Conferencing, among others. Watson focused on showing how Skype for Business is helping out the mobile professional with an essential business requirement: landline calls. The calls made to an office landline can be redirected to you, no matter where you are. It can be prompted to even redirect calls to your mobile phone without additional charge beyond telco fees.

There are varying tiers for Office 365, depending on your needs and how many people will use it. It’s set up on a case-by-case basis with the company. You can find out more information here.
