Electric distribution utility Meralco has partnered with Microsoft Philippines to deploy Office 365 business solution to its employees. Meralco is seeking to improve workplace collaboration and mobility as well as help develop services for its customers. This partnership is part of a three-year contract worth about US$3 million.
Aside from gaining access to the latest versions of Microsoft Office, they will also gain access to Microsoft Azure, video conferencing and instant messaging tools, portals, and social media for workplace with Yammer.
According to Karrie Ilagan, country general manager for Microsoft Philippines, this is the first big step for their partnership. It will allow Meralco to focus their resources on their core competencies and they are assured that Microsoft is offering them their experience with protecting data and privacy.
Marthyn Cuan, vice president and chief information officer at Meralco, said the deployment won’t just provide them with backend assistance but will also assist them with projects such as its 10-year plan for smart grid testing and implementation.
