Mazda Philippines will soon be the authorized distributor of AutoExe tuning parts and accessories in the country. Ahead of its official market launch slated before the end of 2024, Mazda Philippines showed off the MX-5 AutoExe Edition. This special-edition MX-5 serves as the start of this partnership as Mazda Philippines and AutoExe work closely to develop its local product line.
“Mazda has always prided itself in building cars that create a lasting, almost inseparable bond with its owner. Today, we are proud to announce that we are bringing in AutoExe to the Philippines. We see this as the next step to offer more to our customers, and of course, to Mazda enthusiasts,” said Mr. Steven Tan, President and CEO of Mazda Philippines.
Highlighting the significance of this partnership, Mazda Philippines is offering the limited-edition MX-5 AutoExe Edition. With just five units on offer, each one retailing for P 2.2 million, it is an extremely exclusive MX-5 variant. The MX-5 AutoExe Edition comes with AutoExe parts, valued at more than P115,000, installed at no extra cost to customers.
Based on the MX-5 2.0L Skyactiv MT with a black top and black leather interior, the MX-5 AutoExe Edition takes full advantage of the roadster’s lightweight and perfect 50:50 weight distribution. The kit is composed of the AutoExe Tower Brace Set, AutoExe Member Brace Set, AutoExe MT Shift Knob, and AutoExe Carbon Key Cover. These exclusive upgrades are completed by a special AutoExe badge.
The AutoExe Tower Brace Set is an evolved tower bar thanks to its three-dimensional structure. Its layout allows energy to be distributed evenly while doubling the rigidity of the front and rear suspension. This results in increased agility and steering response. Meanwhile, the AutoExe Member Brace Set is an advanced version of a lower arm bar. Whereas a typical lower arm bar only directly connects the left and right sides, the AutoExe Member Brace Set covers a wider area and effectively suppresses the twisting motion of the body.
Made of genuine leather hand-sewn by professional craftsmen, the AutoExe MT Shift Knob is designed for form and function. It features details such as sporty red stitching and a black alumite logo plate with a laser-printed logo, enhancing the look and texture.
Finally, there is the AutoExe Carbon Key Cover. Made of dry carbon, it is produced with the same autoclave method used for making racing car bodies. Etched with the AutoExe logo, it fits the MX-5’s standard advanced key.
Based in Tokyo, AutoExe is a tuning company and parts maker that specializes in Mazda vehicles. Founded by former Mazda works driver Yojiro Terada, his engineering philosophy is based on the Le Mans spirit. Terada, who is also known as “Japan’s Mr. Le Mans,” has had the most appearances at the world-famous endurance race. With his racing experience, he has treated the Circuit de la Sarthe, where the race is held annually, as a development ground.
Since Le Mans is held on general roads, AutoExe parts are not simply for flashy appearances nor are they limited to circuit use. Instead, the guiding principle is to provide a “New Driving Sensation” and as such, they are parts and accessories developed with street or daily use in mind. AutoExe takes great care to provide parts and accessories that improve driving performance that do not hinder practicality and comfort. They develop parts that create a holistic, complete car when put together.
Furthering this New Driving Sensation, Takao Kijima is part of AutoExe’s engineering team. Known as Mr. Roadster, Kijima-san is central to suspension and chassis work on the first- and second-generation MX-5, and the third-generation RX-7. During his tenure at Mazda, he embraced the so-called Dynamic Kansai Engineering—a way of developing cars that focuses on increasing the sensation of being fun to drive that may not necessarily be captured by instruments and specifications. It is this philosophy that he carries to AutoExe.
The official launch of AutoExe in the Philippines through Mazda Philippines is slated before the end of the year. More information about the partnership, including availability of parts and pricing, will be announced closer to the commencement of retail sales. Stay tuned for updates on this collaboration between Mazda Philippines and AutoExe.
