Mazda Philippines is currently undertaking a Special Service Campaign for all first generation (model code BK) Mazda3 units sold in the country. This is in connection with the steering wheel brand emblems that need to be replaced as they may deteriorate over time and become brittle. The steering wheel brand emblems may break apart and may become projectiles in the event of a driver side airbag deployment.
The affected BK-series Mazda3 units were produced between 2004 to 2008 and were sold by the previous distributor of Mazda vehicles in the country. While no injuries have been reported locally due to this issue, Mazda Philippines has nonetheless decided to proactively proceed with the campaign in the interest of the owners’ safety. It will also assume the cost of labor and parts for the replacement component at no cost to Mazda3 owners and customers.
Mazda customers and owners of affected Mazda3 units are called upon to contact the nearest Mazda dealership of their preference to confirm their vehicle’s inclusion in the Special Service Campaign. Contact details of all authorized dealerships are listed in the Mazda Philippines official website – www.mazda.ph.
Affected Mazda3 owners may then set an appointment with the dealership to have the service procedure performed on their Mazda3. Part replacement will only take approximately 45 minutes.
“Mazda Philippines is committed to ensuring the safety of Mazda owners by providing proactive service and safety campaigns,” says Steven Tan, president and CEO of Mazda Philippines. “As soon as we received confirmation of the issue with the Mazda3 units sold by the Mazda Japan, we set in motion the Special Service Campaign process in cooperation with our dealerships. We believe the safety of Mazda owners is paramount and is essential as we ensure the proper and continued operation and service of their vehicles during these trying times.”
In addition to the brand emblem replacement announcement, Mazda Philippines is likewise offering a further 50% discount on BK-series Mazda3 parts in its current inventory. “Due to the age of the BK-series Mazda3, we believe providing easier access to
