STARBUCKS SINGLE ORIGIN EAST TIMOR LETEFOHO flavor notes: black butter and nutmeg

In the mountainous island of East Timor lies a coffee origin like no other. Among the wilderness, steep terrain and limestone soil, coffee grows and develops slowly. It is here, in the Letefoho region, meaning “Top of the Mountain”, where a cooperative of smallholder farmers grow coffee on small plots in a densely forested landscape. Blanketed under a towering 50-meter-tall tree canopy, this coffee thrives and delivers a cup of rich, multilayered notes of black butter and nutmeg, followed by a lingering body with a touch of acidity.

STARBUCKS RESERVE RWANDA HINGAKAWA flavor notes: tangerine and milk toffee

Specialty coffee is a profoundly human endeavor. This is evident in Rwanda, where a group of farmers known as Hingakawa-who are women are turning out coffees of rare elegance. Hingakawa, a mantra that means “Let’s grow coffee”, is a product of patience, care and love. In the cup, we find a pinnacle of heroism and a stirring reminder of the resiliency that fuels the human spirit.

STARBUCKS RESERVE SUN DRIED PAPUA NEW GUINEA ULYA flavor notes: blueberry and fig

In the Western Highlands of Papua New Guinea, rugged ridgelines tower above lush, plunging valleys with butterflies the size of birds, tropical palms and ancient evergreens. In this remote place of otherworldly beauty, nearly 1,000 smallholder farmers have committed themselves to the delicate method of sun-drying coffee. Ripe, whole coffee cherries-picked at the right moment- are meticulously turned and rotated as they dry in the sun, which saturates the beans with sweetness.
