The Sant’Agata Bolognese-based supercar maker Automobili Lamborghini has bared plans to “decarbonize” its manufacturing process and model lineup. As announced by company President and CEO, Stephan Winkelmann, Lamborghini will continually focus on identifying technologies and solutions that guarantee top performance and driving dynamics, in keeping with the marque’s tradition, as it shifts to electric-powered mobility.

Winkelmann said the company targets to reduce its CO2 emissions by half by the beginning of 2025, and that it has allocated €1.5 billion—the largest investment in Lamborghini’s history—over four years to ensure this.

While Lamborghini has kicked off its electrification journey via the Sián concept model, the first hybrid Lamborghini, it will continue to develop models with combustion engines. Two new V12 cars will be announced later this year.

In late 2023, Lamborghini will launch its first hybrid production car. The following year, the entire Lamborghini range will be electrified, featuring some form of electric power assist. In this transition to hybrid, performance and the authentic Lamborghini driving experience will remain the focus.

Lamborghini will dedicate the second half of the decade to all-electric vehicles, with the first fully-electric Lamborghini targeted to be introduced after 2025. Once again, technological innovation will be oriented toward ensuring remarkable performance, and positioning the new product at the top of its segment.

“Lamborghini’s electrification plan is a newly-plotted course, necessary in the context of a radically changing world, where we want to make our contribution by continuing to reduce environmental impact through concrete projects. Our response is a plan with a 360-degree approach, encompassing our products and our Sant’Agata Bolognese location, taking us toward a more sustainable future while always remaining faithful to our DNA,” Winkelmann said.
