Kymco is hoping to reach a younger market with the appointment of its new brand ambassadors, Filipino alternative rock band Hale. This is the first for Kymco to bring on an endorser for its motorcycles.
They’re tapping Hale to appeal to the emerging market, which, Kymco’s General Manager Allan Santiago says is Generation Z. Santiago says they believe music is one of the best ways to get in touch with their audience. Hale will be using its popularity to not just promote the brand to the younger set but to also remind them about responsible riding.
Champ Lui Pio, Hale’s vocalist, said they are also working on a new song for the brand. You can expect them, together with Kymco, to be hitting the road this year for a series of performances as well as test rides and bike displays.
Aside from introducing its new endorsers, Kymco has also launched three new scooters: the Agility 125, Kargador 150, and the Super Z.
The Agility 125 makes mobility and portability important components as you can easily lug around things like five gallons of water and LPG tank on its large floor space. It comes with a “Naked Designed Front Panel,” ring type position lamp, projection lamp and 9PC LED for low beam and high beam, respectively. It’s powered by a 4-stroke, 1-cylinder CVT engine with 125cc displacement, 6.9kw at 7,500rpm max output , 9.6Nm at 6,500rpm torque, FF Disc/RR Drum braking system, and Telescopic/ Unit Swing suspension. Its has 12-inch tubeless tires and it has a five liter tank capacity. It comes in Agility 125 Naked Model, which is available in black, blue, white, and red; and Naked Model LED, which comes in red and blue.
The Kargador 150 is ready to handle the abuse of tough Philippine roads. It comes with reinforced down tube of the frame that attaches to the side car, a boxed type swing arm for durability of the rear, and 4mm thicker spoke to support the wheel hub. It’s available in two variants: one with Euro 2 system and another with Euro 3. This 149.9cc ride has a 4-stroke 1-cylinder V-Shape engine that’s designed to stimulate distribution of cool air in specific areas that need it, which is said to improve fuel efficiency. It comes with 8.3kw at 7,500rpm max output, 12.2Nm at 5,500rpm max torque, a chain rear drive, Drum braking system, and Telescope/under swing suspension.
The Super Z is meant to be the crowd-pleaser for the mobile youngsters. It’s been created by Kymco to fit the different target markets in the region. What we get with the Super Z are seamless lines, sides, and angles, which is emphasized further by the LED lights that flow from the front to the rear of the scooter. Connectivity is important to this model as it comes with its own USB charger, too. This 124.6cc automatic motorcycle has a 4-stroke 1-cylinder 2-valve CVT engine that produces a max output of 7.2kw at 7,500rpm and 1kg-m at 6,000rpm torque. It comes built with Telescope/Under swing suspension, Disk/Drum brakes, and 80/90 – 14 M/C 40P front tires with 90/90 – 14 M/C 46P rear wheels.
